Chapter 22

Randy watched the scanner as the Cimalian fleet dropped out of hyperspace and the battle began. Weapon systems opened up right away as each side tried to gain the upper hand early in the battle. Taking a quick count from the scanner Randy saw that the estimation for where the enemy ships would end up had been, for the most part, accurate. His greatest concern had been the missile launchers. If the launchers could be taken care of first they might actually/ stand a chance of winning the battle.

“Have Victorious head to sector J, Bismarck to H,” Randy said. Hans relayed the message to the battle-cruisers. Until the rest of the fleet could arrive the Cimalians outnumbered his fleet.. He felt the Akagi rock as it began taking Cimalian fire.

“We have a missile launch,” Kim said. Continue reading…

Chapter 21

Randy walked into the cafeteria holding Meia’s hand. To him if felt natural to have her beside him, but he felt a slight bit of tension in her movements. He had the feeling it had more to do with the fact of what had happened then them being together. The cafeteria wasn’t as crowded as it normally would be as many people were on duty or resting waiting for the word to move out.

“I think you’ll enjoy this meal,” Randy said looking at the food. “A good ol’ fashion hamburger.”

“Admiral, how can se serve you today,” the server behind the counter asked as Randy and Meia came up.

“I’ll have a cheeseburger, double, and I think a single regular hamburger for her,” Randy replied. “I hope you don’t mind,” he said to Meia.” Continue reading…

Jack walked quickly into the cafeteria looking for the one person he hoped would be able to help him. Scanning the tables he noticed her talking with one of his staff. Even from here he could tell she was playing the injured person routine, and the staff member seemed to be buying it. Shaking his head he walked over to where they were.

“Ahem,” he said interrupting them.

“Admiral,” Amy said looking over at him. “Any news?”

“You might say that,” Jack said looking over at Amy’s companion. He noticed as Amy got the tone and look.

“I’ll talk to you later then,” she said. Continue reading…

Chapter 19

Meia walked onto the hangar deck where her fighter had been placed for routine maintenance. There were several people already working on the fighters. In fact many people seemed to be working extra hard. She figured it had to be because of the senator who had come aboard.

“Hello, I see you’re back,” a mechanic said walking up to her. “Just finishing up your fighter here.”

Meia glanced at the fighter in question. She walked around it running her finger along the cool metal of the fighter as she did a mental inspection. She wasn’t as familiar with the Alliance fighters but it didn’t strop her from her inspection.

“Had an engine problem, but we’ve fixed that now,” he said to her. “The fuel line had been damaged so now you should get full power unlike last time.” Continue reading…

Chapter 18

“Admiral, incoming call from HQ, shall I put it though,” Hans said his voice breaking Randy’s musings.

Randy sat up a bit in his office a second before replying. “Put it though Hans,” he said. A second later his father’s face appeared on the screen. “Dad, what’s up?”

“Things are looking up and down at the moment,” Jack replied. “The up side is Amy Barnes, she’s taken to this cause, and she’s not letting it go now.”

“That’s good news, perhaps the government finally will wake up to what’s going on,” Randy said. Continue reading…

Chapter 17

Meia allowed herself to be led away from the hangar. She still had a feeling of being alive after flying, the adrenaline rush it provided. The missiles had been a challenge to her unlike anything else. The targeting computer hadn’t locked on due to a coating of the missile and the substance of the warhead itself which created a slight field of interference around it making it hard for a computer to lock onto it.

She understood one of the questions that Randy would have would be how, the other why. She didn’t know if she fully understood why yet, only that the Cimalian Empire didn’t deserve to rule the universe. She was sure now they’d killed her mother and all of her anger towards the Alliance had been misplaced for so many years. She also wanted to know a bit more about this drug the doctor had found in her system.

“Are all Cimalian pilots trained the same,” John asked. Continue reading…

Chapter 16

Randy looked down at the scanner indicating how far away the fleet was from Serria. The Starhopper had finished its mission sending information about what ships were present around the planet. It appeared there were three Cimalian battle-cruisers along with a dozen and a half other ships. The Strike Fleet consisted of four battle-cruisers, six cruisers, and eight destroyers to go with the four scout ships.

“What do you think admiral,” Kim asked. He looked up at the large screen indicating where every enemy ship had been, their orbits and predicted paths for when the fleet arrived.

“if nothing changes then the Warspite and Victorious will dropout here,” Randy said highlighting an area near one of the enemy ships. “The Bismarck here, and we’ll take on this one over here. Cruiser group one and three, your job is to keep the smaller ships busy. Group two will help out the Warspite and Victorious. Remember to try and stay within fifteen clicks of the enemy battle-cruisers. If we drop out of hyperspace out side of fifteen clicks close the distance as rapidly as possible.” Continue reading…

Chapter 15

Ben wiped his hands as he looked at the readout making sure that John’s fighter would be operating at peak performance. The fighter had received some damage from the last battle, but not too much. John was a pilot who flew on the edge which was why he probably came back alive most times.

“Jean, how’s that repair doing,” Ben asked. He looked over to see Jean, who had taken apart the fighter, tinkering inside of the engines. The fighter had held together but the pilot had been severely injured and transported back to Pacifica for treatment.

“Well, it’s coming, slowly, but I’ve almost got it,” Jean replied, her voice muffled a bit by the engine.

Ben gave a chuckle then turned when a movement caught his attention. Looking over at the hangar entrance he noticed at first what he assumed as a replacement pilot. He quickly rethought that at seeing her uniform and hair. The blue and white uniform was out of place for pilots, but her hair, that’s what really caught his attention, it was blue. Chapter 14

Tommy glanced at the monitors as activity increased. “I believe she’s coming around,” he said. He walked over to where Meia’s bed was.

“That’s good news then,” Randy said repeating the words the Tommy had said. He had rushed down almost right away after the doctor had left.

They watched as Meia’s eyes blinked open in confusion.

“Are you all right,” Randy asked her.

“Randy,” She replied. She still seemed to be confused a bit as she looked around.

“Yes,” Randy said. Continue reading…

Chapter 13

Randy watched as Meia walked off the bridge. He really didn’t know what to say to her. The one thing he wanted to do was offer support to her. However, he was needed on the bridge as reports came in about damage and losses. Then he also had to deal with what was happening down on the planet’s surface. So far he’d heard nothing from the planet’s surface. Commander Porkins had left a few minutes ago to check it out.

“Fleet status,” he asked.

“Bismarck reporting slight damage, should be repaired within an hour. Warspite ready to go, and we’re under going repairs that should be finished by the end of the day,” Kim replied.

“And the fighters,” He asked. Continue reading…
