Legacy of the Guardians

by AJ Marks

Prolog

A barren planet slowly orbited around an ancient sun. The activity in the area had all but disappeared over a million years ago. No space faring race visited the planet recently, only finding a wasted surface. The water on the surface had long ago since vaporized and life had died off as the star underwent changes due to age.

On the surface of the planet there were ruins of some ancient race indicating there had been intelligent life. The ruins were run down, abandoned and left to the winds of change and gravity. Any excavations came up with no clues about who lived on the planet, or even what happened to them. It remained one of the greatest mysteries of the universe.

Some speculated that whoever lived there might one day return, or that they had gone beyond the galaxy centuries ago. They now were somewhere in the vast emptiness of space never to return again. Continue reading…

The Aphil

Apollo flew his viper towards the system hoping the patrol might find something the fleet could use. The last few systems they had come across had been completely barren. Nothing had been usable at all which caused some concern with Adama.

“Apollo, are you looking at your scanner?” Starbuck asked suddenly. Apollo glanced down looking at the scanner wondering what Starbuck had screen. The scanner indicated a lot of asteroids floating around the system. The patrol would have to maneuver carefully this time.

“Seems pretty active to me,” Apollo stated. “We’re going to have to be on our toes for sure going through this.”

“Just what I wanted to do today, fly through a large asteroid field the size of a solar system,” Starbuck replied. Continue reading…

Disclaimer:  BSG is not owned by me, I only borrowed the characters for a few moments, enjoy the story.

Baltar Betrays Cain

by AJ Marks

Baltar sat on the council listening to the latest news of the war front. So far both sides seemed to be at a stalemate. Neither side appeared to have an advantage over the other. Both sides were scrounging for resources to build their war machines.

“Baltar, anything new to report,” Adar asked.

“No, nothing yet,” Baltar said. He’d have to meet with his ‘spies’ to see what could help.

“It appears Commander Cain is pushing again,” Adar said. “He seems to think that we can march straight into Cylon space and defeat them.”

“Cain is a fool,” Baltar said. Continue reading…

Mutant Xena

by AJ Marks

The quiet forest sounds were interrupted by the sound of running. The leaves crunched under the runner’s shoes and the sound of another person running could be heard not far behind. The first person tripped and fell. Panic flashed in the eyes of the runner. He was closing in. Getting up the runner began in another direction hoping to escape him.

“Come back here bitch. You owe me,” came the yell from the man in pursuit. “I didn’t spend all that money on you just to have you wimp out.”

She kept on running looking for anything that might help her. A person house or any type of light she head towards. She caught sight of a fence and headed towards it. Her heart pounded in her chest and she was breathing heavily as fear kept her running. Continue reading…

Silent Fleet

Silent Fleet

by AJ Marks

Apollo and Starbuck raced to their vipers along with the rest of blue squad. The alarm did not surprise many, considering a patrol destroyed a Cylon scouting party only a few days earlier. Since that moment, everyone wondered when the first attack might occur.

Starbuck jumped into his viper, handed his helmet and quickly received permission to launch. He pressed the turbos and felt the viper accelerate quickly out of the launch tube. Apollo quickly followed along with several others.

“Form up,” Apollo said, as the pilots quickly carried out the order. “Cylons approaching from quadrant six.” Continue reading…

A Stop on the Way to the Beach

A Stop on the Way to the Beach

by AJ Marks

The centurion made its way down the hallway, towards the supply room to make necessary repairs on the engines. An unusual sound caused him to stop and look back into the hallway. He noticed nothing at first, then much to his programming something began appearing in the middle of the hallway. It looked like a blue box that was forming out of nothing.

The noise finally stopped and the centurion was now looking at a blue box that should not have been there. The door opened allowing two humans, one male the other female to exit. Startled the centurion went into action even as the conversation came from the two humans.

“This doesn’t look like the beach. Where are we now?” the woman said, who had red hair. Continue reading…

The Cimalian Princess: Intro

The Cimalian Princess: Invasion

by AJ Marks

Introduction

“Begin jamming the target’s communications,” Admiral Jezic ordered.

Crewmembers of the Kitakim quickly worked to carry out his order. He watched knowing that in a few seconds his enemy would have no way to communicate with the outside universe.

“Jamming successful admiral,” Captain Diern replied.

“First squadron launch,” Jezic ordered barely acknowledging the reply from the captain. He knew the upcoming battle would be critical to the Cimalian Empire and its future.

“By your will admiral,” the operator replied. Continue reading…

The Cimalian Princess: Invasion – Conclusion

The Cimalian Princess: Invasion

Conclusion

Meia sat down at the restaurant next to Randy. A lot had happened in the past couple of days since the defeat of the Cimalian fleet.

The Alliance had sent a patrol ship to Cimalius but found it abandoned. That hadn’t surprised Meia at all considering the nature of the Cimalian leadership. The landing parties found nothing of any use that might help them figure out where they had gone. The President had ordered a team to Cimalius to see if they could find out.

“How are you handling everything,” Mary asked.

“As well as can be expected,” Meia replied. “It’s still a lot to get used to.”

“How is the government doing,” Randy asked.

“The President has ordered new elections and an investigation of the Constrict party,” Amy said from her side of the table. “Father is working hard to create a new party, I think he’s going to call it Independent, after how I act.”

“The truth is finally getting out and the people are furious,” Jack said.

Meia understood that. The people had been lied to by the group they had entrusted to protect them.

“On the plus side the military has received a bonus and money to construct a new class of battle-cruisers,” Jack said continuing.

“The threat of the Cimalians isn’t over,” Meia said. “As long as the leaders remain the Cimalians will remain a threat.”

“We have scouts ships working and looking at nearby systems closely and investigating any ship that mysteriously disappears,” Randy said.

“We still have one important weapon,” Meia said to the group. “Me, I am the highest ranking official of the Cimalian government.”

“The government system never made any sense to me,” Amy said.

“Like a monarchy, oldest child is rightful ruler,” Meia said. “The family tries to remain small to keep power consolidated in a small group of people. Usually one or two sons or daughters. Usually the younger siblings don’t have families…”

Meia stopped at that thought. Now everything made sense. That was why she had been kept alive.

“What’s wrong?” Randy asked.

“They’ll be back, after me,” Meia said. “Only I can reproduce a new heir, of course it makes sense now!”

“I don’t follow,” Jack said confused.

“About two hundred years ago the younger son of the Emperor Charles II, Wylan killed his older brother, Eric for the throne. When Tylin, Eric’s daughter overthrew Wylan she made a law that the younger siblings be made unable to produce heirs. Emperor Henry was keeping me alive to produce a heir,” Meia said.

“That means they’ll be after you still,” Randy said.

“Then the fight isn’t over,” Jack said.

“Doesn’t look that way, but next time, we’ll know,” Amy said.

Meia nodded her head with the knowledge that things had just started.

The Cimalian Princess: Invasion – Ch 24

The Cimalian Princess: Invasion

by AJ Marks

Chapter 24

Jack stood in the middle of the command center. The press conference had gone even better than he’d hoped. Many in the press at first had been skeptical, then when the governor of Hesslius came on in support the press really started asking more serious questions about who and what the military had done. He’d been able to finally tall his story, and how the military had tried to help but was hampered by the government.

The news had spread quickly over the galactic internet causing a sensation across the Alliance. Jack had the feeling that many in the government would be under pressure to explain their actions and staunch disbelief of why there was an attack. He also was waiting for something.

“Admiral, incoming message from Corestar, the President,” Chad said to him. Continue reading…

The Cimalian Princess: Invasion – Ch 23

The Cimalian Princess: Invasion

by AJ Marks

Chapter 23

Randy watched from his scanner as everything seemed to stop except for one battle between two fighters. He knew other battles were going on but he had the feeling that this battle would be won, or lost with the outcome of the battle that Meia was engaged in.

“The Bismarck had arrived,” Kim said.

“Its to proceed to target,” Randy said not looking up.

“John and Malak are moving to intercept two missiles,” Yvette said.

Randy acknowledged the report as Meia and the Cimalian pilot, Olin, engaged each other. They seemed to be testing each other as they circled each other. Olin’s voice then crackled though the bridge. Continue reading…
