Lucky Luck – Part 1

Part 1:  A Lucky Encounter

Gwen walked down the street, trying to avoid people as much as possible.  The last thing she wanted to encounter, a fighter who wanted to prove something to his, or her, buddies.  While the chances of such a thing happening was small, she took no chances.  Her own high fighting power meant any fights she was in might cause her to stand out.  Up ahead she spotted the local market, another place she avoided if possible.  The haggling, people, and thieves made her cringe.  More than once some idiot tried to pick her pocket.

She made her way towards the inn, hoping it had room for the night.  She arrived in the city in good time, and without any raiders.  That surprised her.  Usually they targeted her, only seeing a lone woman walking down the road and thinking they had an easy target.  Many learned too late how powerful she was.

Inside the inn she noticed the clean atmosphere, along with the normal stares she always received.  She paid it no mind and moved towards the bar, where the innkeeper stood, sizing her up.  Her tall height, dark clothing, armor and sword always attracted attention.

“Need a room for the night,” Gwen stated to the innkeeper, leaning against the counter with a casual air. Continue reading…

Part 15

Zoe worked on the enchanter hoping to create a new piece of armor with some cool attributes to sell.  Something she had started doing as a hobby for the Suite but was a money maker.  Enchanted armor sold even better as too many didn’t know how to do it, or even cared.

Enchantments had helped her out tremendously in her travels.  With the defeat of Alduin it seemed as if her grand adventure days were now over.  She privately hoped there wouldn’t be any new adventures, and she could settle down again helping out people here and there.

“Still working,” Leah stated, walking up behind her.

“Yeah, just trying to figure out which enchantment I should use with this piece of armor,” Zoe said, holding up a piece of paper which she had used to work out some enchantments on.  “Currently thinking increased armor, it’s a light piece of armor.”

“It’s always good to have,” Leah stated looking at the paper. Continue reading…

Part 14

Zoe relaxed a bit by the pool. As it felt nice to just sit and do nothing for a change.  Several others were in the pool having fun and the day was surprising warm though she could see some clouds on the horizon which meant a storm later on in the day.

The past couple of days had been a bit tense with everyone expecting something.  Zoe wasn’t sure what might happen if anything.  She frowned upon seeing her sun blocked and looked up to see Leah standing there.

“Just going to do nothing today?” she asked.

“Well, thought about it, or at least this morning,” Zoe replied, then looking at the distance.  “Besides, looks like a storm is approaching.”

“Means work beforehand,” Leah replied, as Zoe looked up at the short dress Leah wore, showing off a vast amount of leg and from her vantage point, under the dress.  If Leah moved a bit she could tell what she was wearing underneath, if anything. Continue reading…

Part 13

Zoe and Leah headed away from Solitude, on the way back to the Suite and home.  The past couple of days had been interesting to say the least.  The Thalmor were typical, always trying to impose their views on everyone else due to some superior moral values on everyone else.

She felt glad to be leaving all this politics behind her, especially Valis.  If she never saw him again it would be too soon.  However part of her knew she hadn’t seen the last of him.  He didn’t seem able to let go of something.

“You didn’t hurt anyone, I’m impressed,” Leah said.

“I’ve got restraint if I need it,” Zoe replied back to her.

“Yeah, glad I wasn’t there,” Leah said, having spent the time back at the house learning some new recipes she hoped to introduce to the Suite. Continue reading…

“Talos worshipping is not negotiable,” Valis said, standing up at the table and glaring at the others.

Zoe waited a few seconds to see how the others would react.

“And I said its all but impossible to enforce without losing our ability to lead.  Its one of the problems which led to the Stormcloak uprising,” Tullius replied to him.

She could see that Valis was being as stubborn as ever with this point.  He wanted absolute verification that no Talos worshipping was happening anywhere in Skyrim.  She slightly smirked knowing that she had a couple of shrines of Talos at the Suite.  Surprisingly it was Elewen who spoke up next placing a hand on Valis’ arm to silence him.

“The general is correct, we must tread lightly,” she said to him.  He looked ready to say more when she merely glared at him for a moment.  He seemed to stop looking at her before finally sitting back down, anger written all over his face as Elewen continued.  “I’m sorry, perhaps you can try to prevent any further Talos worshipping?” Continue reading…

Zoe stretched as the meeting was finally adjourned.  The Thalmor wanted to head back to their embassy for the night.  She stood and made her way to the small balcony which overlooked the entrance to the palace and felt someone else approach.

Turning she found herself looking at the one person she didn’t want to see at the moment, Valis.

“I said it before, that armor doesn’t look good on you,” Valis said.

“That’s your opinion, which is wrong” Zoe replied back taking a look at the elf.  He obviously was doing well for himself by the look of his clothes.  He had moved up if he was the ambassador for the Thalmor in this discussion.  He also was as arrogant as ever, thinking he was always right and could never be wrong. Part 10

Zoe made her way to the Blue Palace along with Jordis to meet up with the Jarl before the Thalmor arrived.  It would prove to be an interesting morning which started out good.  The pastries were indeed good making Zoe wonder why he hadn’t been able to start up his business.

He explained over the meal that he acquired some debt due to his father’s gambling addiction before he died.  Zoe asked if it was still a problem and he said he had paid them off last week to which Jordis affirmed his claim.

So with good pastries Zoe agreed to fund his business and if the gamblers came back to send them her way, as a backer she basically ‘owned’ him in their eyes.  He didn’t seem too disappointed and was working with Leah to see about starting the business. Continue reading…

Part 9

Zoe glanced around the party which were going with her to Solitude.  What started out as a small group with only Jordis, Leah and her had grown larger as Brelyna decided to head there to look for some herbs nearby.  Aela, upon hearing she was headed there, mentioned doing some work there as well.  Finally the young merchant, Ysolda, asked to go with them to do some business but had been afraid of going with herself.

Looking down the path Zoe spotted an overturned cart and looked over at Aela who also noticed it.  They shared a glance both knowing what it probably meant before looking at the others

“Hold up,” Zoe stated.

“What’s up?” Leah asked, moving up beside her.

“Trouble, Aela, with me, the rest stay here,” Zoe said to them as she looked at the cart. Continue reading…

Part 8

Zoe woke to an empty bed, not that it surprised her.  It had been a week since her defeat of Alduin and returning back to the Suite.  She had relaxed a bit the first couple of days, and allowing herself to heal up after all her travels.  Leah had already gotten up, she said the previous night there were some things she needed to do.

Running the suite was a challenge, one which Zoe was learning about.  A lot of things, from cleaning to keeping things stocked and that wasn’t even including keep customers happy.  She felt grateful to the girls and OMB who worked hard to keep the suite running.  Farquar was more than capable of handling the locals, and if anyone really got out of hand, they learned real quick the girls were also warriors.

Down below she thought she heard Aela’s voice, along with either Farkas or Valkas, or both.  She also heard some other voices and figured some of the guests were awake.  Getting up and putting on some simple clothes, no need for armor, made her way down the stairs. Continue reading…

Dovahkin’s Flight – Part 7

Part 7

Zoe made her way down the street with the stars overhead.  It had taken her longer to return than she expected today, but she’d be home in a short time.  Already familiar sights were all around her.  She had gone over everything which had happened in the past year since coming to Skyrim on her way back.

It turned out she was the Dragonborn, and had the unique ability to learn shouts.  She also learned that dragons coming back had been the result of a dragon called Alduin, the World Eater.  Now, it was all over as she turned to cross the bridge and headed to her destination.  A long house which had the best bathing suite in all of Skyrim, the Bathing Beauties Luxury Suite.

Lights were on outside, not that unusual as it was open pretty much all day round.  It got visitors at all times, from people looking for a place to sleep on the road to visitors from all the major cities.  Its reputation had grown that much since she had become owner.

She learned it had much to do with the Bride of Migal, located under the bathing house.  Its energy fed the waters giving it a magical quality, and filling the entire suite with a relaxing, wonderful feeling. Continue reading…
