Part 12

Fifteen minutes later Randy made his way into the hangar after stopping at Meia’s quarters and the rec room just to be sure. He hoped to find her here or end up asking people if they spotted her recently.  Looking around he spotted the normal group working, including Ben, Jean and the rest of the crew working hard around one fighter.  Unable to see Meia he made his way over hoping Ben had seen her around.  At the moment Ben had his head inside a fighter so Randy doubted he knew who was standing beside him when he knocked on the fighter hull to get his attention.

“Be right out,” Ben called out. “Just putting this damn nut back on.  Come on ya squirrely thing.”

Randy waited patiently ass Ben finished his work and extracted himself from the fighter, wiping his hands before turning towards Randy.

“Beg’in your pardon sir, didn’t know it was you. Thought it might be one of the other pilots,” Ben stated, turning to a grab and rag and finished cleaning his hands.

“No worries, but, uh, have you seen Meia lately?” Randy asked. Continue reading…

Jack watched from his seat as the president quickly walked in and sat down, looking at the assembled group.

“All right, we don’t have all day so let’s get straight to the point,” Able said to the group before looking at Jack. “Admiral White, what is the current situation of the Cimalian Empire?”

Jack stood, cleared his throat, and proceeded to outline what the scout ships had reported along with what happened during the last contact and everything a brief overview of what happened with Meia.

“You’re telling me that they cloned this Meia, yet you still trust her in such a position?” Able asked, a question Jack was prepared for. Continue reading…

The figure waited in the shadows, watching the events going on in the main room completely oblivious to the others standing nearby.

“Are you sure about this?” one asked, his voice easily recognizable.

“Positive admiral, one Alliance scout ship dropped in and left after a shuttle was launched. It landed quickly and we were unable to do anything,” the other person replied back.

“Increase security, I do not want a repeat of what happened last time,” the admiral replied. “Now I have to inform the Emperor of this, and hope he’s in a generous mood.”

The figure waited as the two people turned and walked away leaving them alone.

“Interesting, so Meia’s returned. That could be just what I need.” Continue reading…

Part 9

Meia slowly regained consciousness, opening her eyes before quickly shutting them again due to the blinding light. Letting out a low moan she tried to remember not only where she was but how she got there.  She also wondered what time was it?  An irritating beeping noise caused her to look again, this time barely opening her eyes, which seemed too wide still and scanned the room looking around.  Sitting up only caused her head to pound making her wish to curl up and die.

She finally spotted the annoying object in question, a small alarm clock sitting on her desk. Slamming her fist onto the object which caused it to stop, much to her satisfaction she lay back down rubbing her temples wonder what she had done for such pain.  Did someone hit her over the head, it might explain why she couldn’t remember what happened.

Vaguely bits and pieces returned and she recalled going to the pilot’s club with John, having something strange to drink. After that her memory got a bit fuzzy, something about beating John at a game then something involving knives and a target on the wall.  She couldn’t quite remember the details.

“Lieutenant Commander Meia, this is your appointed wake up call,” the computer voice said suddenly, causing her to groan at the sound. Continue reading…

Meia walked into the rec room behind John and noticed a lot of pilots standing around, many looked like they were having fun.

“Hey, look who I got to come down off her throne and visit with us lower class citizens,” John said motioning towards Meia.

She gave John a glare which he ignored before he continued.

“She’s going to take a shot!”

Before Meia could even protest she felt herself shoved towards the bar area and a small glass was placed in her hand which was filled with a clear liquid which looked like water to her. Looking over at John she noticed everyone seemed to be telling her to drink it in one gulp.  She had no idea what this stuff even was and they wanted her to drink it. Continue reading…

Randy looked over the reports of the ships in the fleet. So far he had three battle-cruisers, the Bismarck and newly repaired Hood to go along with the Akagi, three cruisers, including the new Eagle and two older ships, the Ajax and Babylon and six destroyers and two scout ships.  It made fourteen ships in all under his command, the largest force he had yet commanded.

The latest reports from HQ were worded strange, something to do with keeping communications to a minimum making him wonder what his father had planned this time. He wasn’t sure he wanted to know either considering Amy Barnes had been mentioned.  The chime interrupted any further thoughts.

“Enter,” he said, still looking at the reports, hearing soft footsteps which indicated only one person had entered his office. He looked up not surprised to see Meia there.  “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

He watched her sit down not saying anything which caused him to worry if something had happened. Continue reading…

Emperor Henry went back over the reports on the screen in front of him updating him on what the resistance and other such groups were doing lately. It also had the official reports of what security knew about the resistance after the latest rounds of interrogations.  There was nothing there which he already didn’t know about how Meia escaped.  A woman named Trina helped who had been part of the resistance.  When she brought Meia to the resistance it was in his hands.

It appeared his niece recognized who had been in control of the resistance, something she should not have been able to do. Thinking like this on her own meant she was becoming a bigger threat to his plans.  He figured she would be like her father, who never figured anything out either.

“Emperor, a message for you,” an aide said bowing at the interruption.

“Put it though,” Henry said, wondering who might be falling at this time of day. The screen switched allowing someone from intelligence to appear.  “This better be good,” Henry said. Continue reading…

Meia stepped into the pilot briefing room and noticed that both Randy and Kim stood at the front and had the feeling she would be joining them up there as well. Something she did not quite feel comfortable with yet.  She noticed John stood off to the side of the room as squadron commander, yet still no commander for squadron two oh one.  Meia took her normal seat and waited for the meeting to begin.

“There’s a lot of announcements so let’s get going,” John said taking control of the situation.

Meia looked at John, who had taken a moment to look at her, then over at Randy who started to speak.

“First off, we’re welcoming a new commanding officer who will be taking over command of the two oh one,” Randy said to them. “Lieutenant Meia will be taking charge, as well as receiving a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel and now a Wing Commander of the Akagi.  Captain John Reed will not be Group Captain of the fleet and still leader of the one one six.” Continue reading…

“Bomber?” Randy asked.

“Yeah, there was a rumor going around before the invasion that designers had finished with a bomber design to compliment the fighters. It would carry heavy weapons, never heard what they were, only that the bombers wouldn’t be able to be housed in the battle-cruisers and a new ship was to be built for it,” Meia said, thinking back to that time.  “At the time I was a lowly Epislon class citizen, so they wouldn’t have told me much about it.  They thought I only had the ability to carry out orders and nothing else.”

“So, we now have a new weapon to worry about,” Randy stated.

“New weapon or not, do you think we can pull off such a deception?” Jack asked looking over at Meia and Randy.

Meia felt unsure about it and looked over at Randy who seemed to be thinking about the situation closely. Continue reading…

Jezic looked over the bridge of the carrier Cimal and thought that the name for the ship seemed a bit too pampas but realized that was exactly how Emperor Henry operated. They managed to complete the ship before the evacuation of Cimalius ahead of the Alliance heading there.

“Admiral, is everything to your liking?” Captain Adad asked breaking Jezic’s train of thought.

“Yes captain, the Cimal should make a fine flagship for the first fleet, and quite an honor for you as well,” Jezic answered back to the man who appeared pleased.

“Yes sir,” Adad stated. “I was surprised when I was selected for the command, but I won’t let either you or the Emperor down.  I wasn’t aware the Emperor made such decisions.” Continue reading…
