Part 21

Ewa watched in shock as Carl slumped forward, a red stain spreading out from his chest before looking over at Anthony. The man stood there with an equal shock as a red stain spread out covering his chest, looking down before slumping down as well.

In the silence Ewa tried to figure out what happened. Her husband had been shot, but so had three others including Anthony.  She also realized that about a half dozen or so people held crude PRGs in their hands and had fired.

She ran to Carl, turning him over, his eyes wide but unseeing. She felt tears trickle down her cheek at the realization her husband had been killed by people she had once considered friends and allies.  Standing up in the silent room she allowed her rage to take over, glaring at Frank who held a PRG in his hand. Greg stopped at the door, hesitating for several heartbeats trying to gather up the courage to knock on the door. Finally, after a couple of seconds he knocked knowing he couldn’t back down now.  It took only a few moments before a short woman answered the door.

“May I help you sir?’ she asked.

“I would like to see the master of the house, is he home?” Greg asked, now partly wishing he wasn’t home.

“And you would be?” she asked almost bored.

“And old friend, Greg.” Continue reading…

Meia made her way over to where John stood now that the meeting was over. She was curious about this naming thing.

“So, what was that about the names?” Meia asked him.

“Ah, something that’s a bit of a tradition, legend has it the names go back to ancient Earth and squadrons on board aircraft carriers,” John said confusing Meia. She was unfamiliar with that term as John continued.  “Squadrons would have the official name, like the one one six, and then one they would use for quick identification, like ghost or skull, that type of thing,” John said.  “Some even has their fighters painted to show off the name.”

Meia frowned at that bit thinking it was strange to do such a thing. Continue reading…

Meia sat silently pushing the food around the plate with her fork. The meal seemed less appetizing after the recent information came back to them and the knowledge of what she had to do.  The thought of it made her stomach roll slightly.

She jumped slightly when a plate was set down beside her. Looking up she saw Randy sitting down next to her and returning her gaze with a worried one.

“Everything okay?” he asked sitting down and looking at her plate of food.

Meia briefly debated with herself about telling Randy what was bothering her before deciding to say anything. “Not really,” she finally said answering the question, watching as he looked on waiting patiently for her to continue.  “Its about my uncle, and the fact I have to face him.  It terrifies me.”

She looked back down at her food then at Randy after he was silent for several seconds. Continue reading…

Henry glanced at the man in front of him waiting for the answer to his question. How could such a thing had happened and for three shuttles to land and leave.  As usual the person in front of him stammered out some apology and blamed a delta and the military for allowing the ships to land.

“The military had their orders directly from me, you had yours. How did she escape the enforcers?” Henry asked waiting to see how Meia could have escaped, or gotten back on the planet without anyone seeing her.

“Emperor,” the man said bowing. “I do not know.  I had teams in the area right away and only found a few people.  Everyone had a valid excuse for being in the area, and none matched the description of the person you described.”

“And those who didn’t have an excuse?” Henry asked looking at the man who seemed to almost cower in front of him. Continue reading…

Part 16

Meia felt a strange satisfaction that her own father had trouble with Olin’s father. It all made sense to her as if it completed a chapter in her life she never understood.  She turned back to Greg sitting next to her as he spoke up again.

“Its rather strange, but Corrus actually had a lot of talent but wasted it on trying to best others through trickery instead of actually training,” Greg finally said.

Meis understood that, Olin bullied his way to the top.

The rest of the meal went quickly as the group listened to some more of Greg’s stories, many of which included Boris in them. Meia smiled gaining an insight into her father she never had before.  John excused himself and left the room to do some work even as Randy walked into the room to inform them Hans had completed the communications system and everything was ready to do. “We’re going to overthrow my uncle,” Meia said watching his reaction. Greg appeared a bit stunned at the comment.

“The military won’t allow any revolts,” he said to them.

“That’s where this fleet comes in,” Meia said knowing this is the part which it all hinged upon. Could she convince him that this fleet was under her control.  “My fleet will take care of the military, all we have to do is get to my uncle.”

“And if the people don’t follow you?” Greg asked.

“I expect some resistance from the higher class,” Meia said surprising Greg with her calm attitude.

“The higher classes?” Continue reading…

April

Just realized I hadn’t done a new month since February.  Whoops!

Still working on new stories, which will be uploaded.  Doing a rewrite of ‘The Sith Empress’, which I hope to upload this year.

Also hoping to post this year is a follow up story to ‘Ring of Salvation’, a BSG/SG-1 crossover.  Add in a completely reworked ‘Masters of Violence’ which is wrapping up and there are several stories to be on the lookout for.

It is hard to believe that its been two years since my major back problem.  I’ve almost fully recovered.

Of course April is Tax month here in the US, so hopefully everyone gets that done and doesn’t have a problem.

Personally looking for a new job, the last one was mostly for the election and had ended, so back on the hunt.

Hope others are doing well, and may 2017 be a blessed year.

Greg waited for an answer to his question.

“Maybe I do, why do you want to know?” the man replied back sounding cautious.

“I’ve run across some interesting information about her recently, she is the one of the 3rd CF?” Greg asked seeing a slight nod from the guy.  “Its very interesting indeed.  Quite a remarkable pilot coming from a Epsilon household, mother a teacher and no father.”

“No, her father was Prince Boris which makes Meia the rightful ruler,” the man replied back.

“Possible, as I said, very interesting,” Greg said back to him. “First off, I’m Greg, and you are?”

He watched the man hesitate for a few seconds before finally answering. Continue reading…

Part 13

Meia glanced across the table over to where Randy said. She knew he had other duties other than making sure she was all right.  However the fact he was sitting here felt a bit reassuring to her.  She still felt a bit raw after everything she had gone though.  She was positive her uncle had killed her family, father, mother and any other family members she might have had and more.

“It’s strange,” Meia finally said. “I guess I knew all along but I never thought about my father growing up, or even if he had any family.  The only person I knew was my mother and I avoided talking about it to others in my class as family is important to them, unlike in the upper classes.  I’d mumble that they were dead and didn’t want to talk about it.  I guess I didn’t want to think about it.”

“I’ve got a sister who I don’t see much of, and a father who was away most of the time when I grew up. I never understood why he was gone so often, but now I understand.  Military life has a lot of demands on it even if we were not the most disciplined military,” Randy said. Continue reading…
