“Scanner contact!”

Mark heard the cry as he walked onto the bridge looking over to see the scanner operator looking over at the others who seemed almost relieved to see him walk onto the bridge.

“Situation,” Mark said making his way over to the center area.  “And display on the combat scanner.”

He only had to wait a few seconds before it displayed and he looked on.  He noticed three ships this time.

“Red alert,” Mark said.  “Inform all commands, military and civilian.  Any conformation on what ships they are?”

“Computer is working on it now.” Continue reading…

Mark sat at his desk listening in on the call.  He was now receiving daily updates from intelligence on the surface of the planet, along with Richard who was also in and the President.  Currently they were going over the latest intel they received from Sierra from him.

“To conclude, the O’krad appear to have similar technology to our own, or at least the ground weapons.  It’s unknown the penetration power of the bullets but overall weapon is similar to a rifle,” the intel officer said, a man who still wore glasses and had greying hair.

“What do you think the situation might be if they decide to attack?” Richard asked.

“We still don’t know, but we did gather some new intel from the Volors and their computers,” the intelligence officer replied.  “Complied with their intelligence we think they have at least three different types of warships.  The first is a large ship, probably used for the planetary bombardments as they would require a large amount of space.  We also think they have two different types of space combat ships.  The larger one, probably similar to our battlecruiser class, while the others are escorts of some sort.” Continue reading…

Part 15

Angie made her way along with Jack though the very dark streets.  There was little light, but up ahead there appeared to be some activity going on by the light in the sky.  It did make her cautious about going too far and close but Jack seemed to want to get closer.

Moving along in silence they continued as the lights grew brighter as they approached the construction going on.  Finally they moved closer and were able to see what was going on from their vantage point.  It appeared there were groups cleaning up the debris, and not everyone was human.  She could see several aliens of different types moving along around working.

The groups were picking up and removing debris all by their hands, no machinery at all causing Angie to frown at the labor intensive work when there were better ways.

She spotted a couple of guards walking around.  They stopped and shouted a few things at one of the workers who appeared to back up almost fearful of what was going on.  Before Angie could even prepare for it the guard shot the worker.  She placed her hand over her mouth to prevent anything from coming out. Part 14

Angie made her way along with Jack back to the town.  They had spent some time looking around at nearby areas, and avoiding a couple of patrols of the invaders.  They seemed to be wary of Earth creatures, shooting at just about everything including squirrels.  While it was a bit amusing for Angie, she quickly recognized the danger despite the fact they had one of their weapons.

Jack had been able to figure out how it worked, and stated it was a similar principle as a gun, shooting some sort of bullet in a magazine.  She wasn’t sure about it all, but it seemed to give him something to do, and she found it was amusing to watch as he tried to figure it out.

Now they were scouting out the town for something.  Jack seemed to have some sort of plan and it required her phone.  He took a few pictures which Angie considered unimportant, including some pictures of the aliens who were patrolling the forest.

They were back during the day and the smell was starting to grow each time they came into the town.  She remained quiet but resorted to breathing though her nose as they looked around.  He took a few more pictures before they returned to the ruined mall. Continue reading…

Mark bolted up out of bed as the alarms went off.  He made his way to the bridge as people rushed to their battlestations.  Racing onto the bridge he noticed everyone looking on and the atmosphere was tense.

“What’s up?” Mark asked looking around knowing there was no drill scheduled unless Hans had done so without his knowledge.

“One ship, just appeared on the scanners,” the reply came back.

“Identification?” Mark asked wondering if they were going into battle.

“Doesn’t match any known ships, either ours or the Simian database.”

Mark turned to look at the scanners. Continue reading…

Mark paced on the bridge before he was called for an incoming message.

“Admiral,” Mark said seeing the admiral on the screen.

“I have news, for you first,” he said.  Mark nodded and put on some headphones before waiting.  “I’m sorry to say, the mission failed.  The Princess Royal was destroyed, all hands are assumed lost.”

Mark nodded not trusting himself to speak.

“The President is heading to Congress to ask for a declaration of war between humanity and this unknown race.  As of this moment you and any defense ships are clear to open fire upon seeing this hostile enemy race.  We have new intel on them which will be forwarded to you at once, including better images of their ships, and a scanner reading of them.  If you spot anything which matches you are to open fire at once,” Richard said to him.

“I understand sir,” Mark replied back. Continue reading…

Angie followed in silence for a bit before her curiosity got the better of her.

“What’s going on?” she asked as they continued to hike though the forest.

“Don’t you see,” Jack said.  “We’ll need some things first  I think we can find what we need in the rubble of the shopping center, there was a cell phone business there and we might be able to find a portable solar charger.”

“Um, okay, but what does that have to do with anything?” Angie asked.  Sure a charged phone would be nice, but without a signal it was useless. Continue reading…

Jeff made his way into the room having been called quickly.  He felt he should get used to such events considering the situation going on recently.  Inside the room was the familiar figures, the admiral, Isa and a new person, another two senators who were part of the defense council.

“What’s going on?” Jeff asked.

“We have some information from Sierra,” Richard said surprising Jeff.

“What information?” Isa asked.

“It appears that Captain Mark Pappas has a niece who lives on Sierra,” Richard stated.  “Approximately ninety minutes ago he received a text from her.”

“I was under the impression all communications was blocked from Sierra, how could he have gotten something?” one of the other senators, Greg asked. Continue reading…

Angie slowly came to with a headache and groaned slightly.  Opening her eyes she looked around seeing sunlight overhead and the sight of trees.  Sitting up quickly in a panic was a bad idea as her head felt like it exploded and quickly laid back down.

“You’re awake, good,” a voice said.  “I was worried.”

Angie opened her eyes again to see Jack now over her.  She looked at him, then where they were and her mind raced at what might have happened.  Had he kidnapped her?  What had he done to her?  Quickly feeling down she noticed she still had her clothes on, so either he dressed her, or nothing happened.

“What happened?” she asked, her voice a bit raspy.

“Here,” he replied, handing her some water.  “How’s your head?” Continue reading…

Jeff was amazed at the entire ship.  Despite so many people on board, the ship had been designed for so many and was working incredibly well.

“Sorry to interrupt,” another Simian said who Jeff was unaware of but he looked at Toncor.

“Yes?” Toncor said.

“There is a message for the senator from the surface, they say its urgent,” he said.

“Very well,” Toncor said.

Jeff felt unsure about heading to their bridge and made his way thought the ship following the two.  Upon entering the bridge he remembered to duck going through the doorway.  They led him over to the communications and waited. Continue reading…
