Recruits

Aaron shifted slightly in the shuttle seat. It seemed like the ride over to the Rising sun took forever. He and his twin sister, Rhea, had finally managed to get tickets to the entertainment ship, one of a few in the fleet. Despite other ships, the Rising Star was the best. He looked at the monitor in front of him again, watching as it repeated what shows were available. It repeated ever few centons and he had seen it already.

“Wonder what’s taking so long?’ he said, looking over at his sister.

“Probably a lot of shuttles going to and from the liner,” she replied back to him. “It’s one the busiest ships in the fleet, except for the Galactica.”

“You’re probably right,” Aaron said, accepting Rhea’s explanation, after all she was one of the flight controllers aboard their ship. She dealt with any shuttles going to and from the ship. She had managed to get a couple of days off for this thanks to the captain. Continue reading…

Voyage to Earth – Rescue

Voyage to Earth

The Rescue

The lone figure made his way back towards a run-down shelter, his clothes torn and ragged, and his hair down to his shoulder blades. A beard looked as if he had not been able to shave in a couple of months, or more. He stopped his progression, looking up into the sky hoping to spot a familiar outline of an approaching craft. His burning desire to finally be rescued off this awful planet and back for revenge. The supplies he had been left with were almost gone, the original shelter destroyed in a storm.

He secured a new shelter that could withstand the storms of the planet. It provided protection, but little else. It kept him dry which he learned to be thankful for. The nearby lake had a supply of fish that was eatable, but not tasty. He found no intelligent life on the planet at all.

His small low power distress beacon he salvaged from the wreckage of the original shelter, and he considered it his most prized procession. The range was extremely limited, and he found he might be able to boost the range, but it would drain its limited battery supply. So he kept it on the low power. Continue reading…

“Close blast shields, launch all vipers,” Adama ordered.

He watched the orders relayed to the rest of the bridge crew. They were all battle-harden veterans who went about their orders without question. Adama knew he could trust them all to do their duty.

“In weapons range,” Tigh said.

“Open fire,” Adama said glancing at the screen to see the vipers launching. The Galactica rocked slightly as the ships exchanged fire. Damage reports started filtering in quickly.

“Commander, we’re picking up transmissions from the surface,” Athena said. Continue reading…

Apollo waited for the communication to the Galactica to connect and his father’s face to appear on the screen. He had learned quite a bit in the meeting and felt slightly relieved that at least a few people understood the tremendous problem of having Cylon basestars around populated human planets. If the Cylons attacked now billions would lose their lives.

“Apollo, what’s the news?” Adama said appearing on the screen.

“Its mixed,” Apollo replied honestly. “It appears Baltar has managed to work in way into the Alliance. He somehow managed to convince the Alliance into a military alliance, we’re working on locating which planets have basestars around them.”

“I see, how many basestars?” Adama asked. Continue reading…

Adama watched the first of the fleet arrive at Serria.

“We might be making this our home for a while,” Adama said to Tigh.

“Do you think our people are going to be safe here?” Tigh asked.

“I don’t know Tigh,” Adama said. “I have a meeting with the council and I suspect they will ask that same question. The problem is we are out of options Tigh.”

“Our fuel,” Tigh said.

“Yes, I’ve already got Doctor Wilker working on excavating the fuel from that moon, but it will take time,” Adama said.

“Will the council buy that, time to mine fuel even with the Cylons so close by?” Tigh asked. Continue reading…

Crystal waited for the signal that the fleet had arrived at Milsia, the core planet of the Milsian Empire. She knew if they could gain control of the government then everything would fall into place, or so she hoped. She understood that things could go wrong and hoped for the best.

The assault on Milsia had been Admiral Junkers’ idea. He figured that as long as Emperor Tony felt confused, and that he had control over the Second Fleet he would not feel threatened at home.

Crystal hoped that would become the case. The last thing she needed would be a waiting enemy fleet for her. This probably would be the one last chance they would have. Ground forces from the Second and Third fleets were waiting to carry out the assault on the palace.

“We’ll be in scanner range in thirty seconds,” Kim said. Continue reading…

“This is the place?” Apollo said, as the vehicle approached a building.

“Yes,” Amy said.

“Some good news, they’ve taken the communications center,” Sheba said.

Apollo nodded still watching where they were going. He felt slightly surprised there was no one on the roads. That changed when they turned the corner, a barricade in front of the building with armed guards.

“Open fire,” Apollo said.

The ATV opened fire blasting the emplacements. Two heavy emplacements were quickly destroyed before the troops could recover.

“I think this is where we get out,” Sheba stated. Continue reading…

Apollo piloted the shuttle heading down to the surface of the planet. Behind him the shuttle was full of warriors in a battle that would be at best confusing. Starbuck kept calling out numbers to him to make sure they landed in the right spot. The two frigates had already been disabled and the few fighters had been defeated by red squadron.

“Area looks clear,” Starbuck said.

“That won’t last long,” Apollo replied. He felt sure that the landing spot would quickly become an area of interest.

A few microns later the shuttle landed with a soft thud and the doors opened allowing the group to exit quickly. Apollo quickly powered down the shuttle seeing a second and third shuttle land nearby. The occupants quickly filing out as well.

“You ready for this?” Starbuck asked. Continue reading…

Apollo looked at the rest of the pilots knowing their thoughts, ground combat. They had gotten the layouts of the cities and other important maps of Serria’s surface for the landing to help out the people of Serria.

“And if they think we’re invaders?” Sheba asked.

“Then we’re really in trouble. We have to make contact with any resistance group immediately upon landing,” Apollo replied.

“Yeah, otherwise that makes it three groups fighting each other, not a good situation considering we’ll be outnumbered,” Starbuck said.

“There are about thirty thousand troops on the planet according to the information,” Apollo said. Continue reading…

Crystal waited in the meeting room knowing that a confrontation would happen. Captain Markus sat next to her as well as Colonel Kim of the Nevada. Crystal had no problem with them. Her main concern would be the admiral when he walked through the doors.

She had gone over the attack several times even finally remembering the attack that caused her to crash onto the Nevada. The admiral knew why she had been fired upon and a lot more. The doors opened allowing Admiral Jurez to enter the room. He stopped inside the door as she stood and stared at him. He was still very tall, and muscular for a man his age.

“Hello admiral,” Crystal said trying to be civil at the moment.

“A traitor,” the admiral said. She watched as he turned to Commander Adama. “So, what lies has she been spreading?” Continue reading…
