By AJ Marks<\/span><\/p>\n Samantha Carter sat fiddling with her pen as she listening to the representatives of the Jaffa and Asgard. Teal\u2019c had actually suggested the meeting between the former allies. Now all she\u2019d been hearing had been bad news about the Ori advance.<\/p>\n \u201cIn conclusion the Ori seem to be all but unstoppable,\u201d Bra\u2019tac reported to the group.<\/p>\n \u201cNothing new to report than? Thor, what about the Asgard, anything,\u201d General Landry asked.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m afraid, general, that the Asgard home fleet is still too depleted to help. We are trying to rebuild at this time however it will take time,\u201d Thor said.<\/p>\n A young aide walked into the room quickly finding the general.<\/p>\n \u201cSir, we just received a hit,\u201d the aide said.<\/p>\n \u201cHit, what type of hit,\u201d Landry asked alarmed.<\/p>\n \u201cColonel Carter\u2019s program, it\u2019s found another unknown stargate address,\u201d the aide said. \u201cWe followed procedure and sent a mouse though. Everything came back green.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cCarter, Teal\u2019c, get SG-1 ready for a mission,\u201d Landry said.<\/p>\n \u201cYes sir,\u201d Samantha said getting up stuffing her pen in her pocket. She figured that the others would probably be in Daniel\u2019s office and headed straight there. Teal\u2019c walked out right behind her following her to Daniel\u2019s office.<\/p>\n \u201cMost interesting,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cI know, I wonder why this planet was left off the list,\u201d Samantha said. \u201cIt might have some unknown advanced civilization.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed,\u201d Teal\u2019c replied. \u201cOr perhaps a weapon of the Ancients.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe its from Merlin,\u201d Samantha said now getting excited. They walked into Daniel\u2019s lab where he was busy translating.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, what\u2019s it say,\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not that simple. This is a dialect of Ancient that is a bit different,\u201d Daniel replied not looking up.<\/p>\n \u201cHey, suit up, we\u2019ve got a new mission,\u201d Samantha said from the doorway. Mitchell and Daniel looked at her for a few seconds before Mitchell found his voice.<\/p>\n \u201cBut we\u2019re not scheduled for another day,\u201d Mitchell replied.<\/p>\n \u201cA change of plans, a new world has been discovered,\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n \u201cA new world, how exciting,\u201d Vala said from where she had sat.<\/p>\n \u201cAll right then, let\u2019s go,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n SG-1 stepped out of the stargate onto a world that looked very similar to very other world. Trees and grass all were similar with a few differences.<\/p>\n \u201cWhy is it that everything is always the same,\u201d Mitchell asked not really expecting an answer.<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed, many worlds are very much the same as Earth,\u201d Teal\u2019c said as they glanced around nearby the stargate. So far they had found anything interesting.<\/p>\n \u201cHewo,\u201d a child\u2019s voice said causing all of them to spin around.<\/p>\n Near the DHD a girl stood. She couldn\u2019t have been more than four but she looked at them with both curiosity and knowledge.<\/p>\n \u201cHello there,\u201d Samantha said recovering the quickest. \u201cMy name\u2019s Samantha, what\u2019s yours?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHera,\u201d the girl said. \u201cI\u2019m named after my great-grandmother.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI bet she\u2019s proud of you,\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n \u201cAre you travelers,\u201d Hera asked. She glanced at their gear as she asked the question.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, we\u2019re from a place very far away,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cEarth, yes, I\u2019ve been there. It\u2019s really lovely,\u201d the girl said. \u201cMother doesn\u2019t allow me to go anywhere anymore without her.\u201d She was silent for a second before continuing. \u201cGreat-great-grandmother likes visitors.\u201d<\/p>\n They watched as the girl suddenly took off down the nearby path.<\/p>\n \u201cDid anyone find that conversation the least bit strange,\u201d Vala asked.<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed I did,\u201d Teal\u2019c replied.<\/p>\n \u201cToo strange,\u201d Mitchell replied.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, whatever you think there\u2019s more people here. Perhaps they have more information about this place,\u201d Daniel said glancing around.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd maybe something that we can use against the Ori,\u201d Samantha said. The group walked off in the direction the little girl had traveled.<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n The five members walked into a village that seemed foreign yet similar to them. They wondered just what they had walked into.<\/p>\n \u201cDoes that remind you of ancient Greece or Rome,\u201d Samantha said to Daniel.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, but there are somethings I don\u2019t recognize,\u201d Daniel replied.<\/p>\n \u201cThese markings are Jaffa in origin,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cThat building is like my homeworld,\u201d Vala said pointing to one of the buildings. Its architecture was different from anything they had seen yet. Hera had gone on ahead and now they could see a blonde, very beautiful woman with her.<\/p>\n \u201cMomma, look, here\u2019s the strangers I told you about,\u201d the girl said pulling on a woman\u2019s hand.<\/p>\n \u201cHello, I\u2019m Samantha Carter,\u201d Sam said to the woman.<\/p>\n The woman glanced at Sam for a few seconds before replying.<\/p>\n \u201cDite,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is strange,\u201d Mitchell whispered to Daniel.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are outsiders, and if the stargate is out of the known addresses then they don\u2019t get a lot of visitors. Only natural they are different,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou must be tired after your journey,\u201d Dite said. \u201cWe have an inn and tavern over there, ask for Gaia.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThank you,\u201d Sam said looking at the others. They seemed as confused as she did.<\/p>\n The group walked over to the inn. Inside they were surprised at the technology inside. An amazing amount of gadgets adorned the wall, a clock with several dials which caught Daniels attention.<\/p>\n \u201cAmazing,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cThis clock seems to have dials that even I can\u2019t understand.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a grand clock,\u201d a woman said from behind them.<\/p>\n The group turned to see an older woman standing there. She looked both old yet young at the same time. An odd mix as the body appeared to be a young woman yet the woman had grey hair and a bit of an aged face.<\/p>\n \u201cYou must be Gaia,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cI am, you\u2019re the travelers from Earth I presume,\u201d she said eyeing them closely.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, we are,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cWe come seeking friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n The woman seemed to study Daniel for a few seconds before replying. \u201cYes your heart does believe that, yet that isn\u2019t quite the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNo, we\u2019re also looking for anything that might help us in our fight against the Ori,\u201d Mitchell said taking a chance.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Ori, oh yes! I\u2019ve heard of them,\u201d Gaia said. \u201cInteresting, though mislead, religion.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNot if you don\u2019t believe what they do,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, I see, you don\u2019t believe in much at all,\u201d she said cocking her head to the side while looking at Daniel. \u201cWell, that\u2019s expected with your generation. I don\u2019t know why he continues to try. I would have given up some time ago on them, but then again I\u2019m not there anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n The group looked at each other a bit wondering about the woman. She seemed harmless yet they were not too sure about her mental ability.<\/p>\n \u201cI just took a loaf of bread out of the oven, would you like some?\u201d she asked them<\/p>\n \u201cSure,\u201d Vala said as the others looked at her. \u201cI\u2019m hungry.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWould your friends like anything,\u201d Gaia asked looking at the rest of the group.<\/p>\n \u201cWhy not,\u201d Samantha said as the group sat down. Gaia brought out some bread setting it down along with some drinks.<\/p>\n \u201cWow, this is great,\u201d Vala said. \u201cBest I think I\u2019ve ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt tastes like banana nut bread,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, a great pumpkin bread,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, a Jaffa bread made by the great cooks,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cAll right, just what is going on here,\u201d Mitchell said looking at Gaia.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you know not, then I cannot help you,\u201d Gaia said, then went quiet for a few seconds. \u201cHmm, today seems like a day of visitors. I better prepare some more bread.\u201d<\/p>\n The group watched as the woman got up heading to the kitchen. She didn\u2019t seem fazed at all that there were more visitors.<\/p>\n \u201cAll right, what\u2019s going on here? She took all of this from the same loaf yet we each are tasting something different,\u201d Mitchell asked, looking at Samantha and Daniel.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know. It goes against everything that I know,\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n The sound of commotion outside caught their attention. They got up to look but even from the sounds they had a feeling who was out there.<\/p>\n \u201cAll right, how did they find out about this place,\u201d Mitchell said seeing Ori soldiers standing in the courtyard.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not sure, unless they have something similar to my program,\u201d Samantha said. Mitchell looked at Sam for a second before Sam continued. \u201cWith their state of technology it\u2019s entirely possible.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe should still watch ourselves though,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n The group watched as the soldiers went rounding up the civilians of the town. Putting on cloaks and hoods they walked out.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not surprised to see her though,\u201d Mitchell said seeing Vala\u2019s daughter standing in the middle of the soldiers, along with a Prior.<\/p>\n It didn\u2019t take long before the Ori soldiers had rounded up everyone in the middle of the town. As usual the Ori soldiers had gathered up the books and information to burn in front of everyone. As the fire burned, the Prior gave his usual speech about the Ori religion while Adria looked on. Vala thought that Adria already knew that they were there. Daniel\u2019s voice broke her out of her musings though.<\/p>\n \u201cSam, is it me or do these people seem totally disinterested in what he\u2019s saying,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n Samantha glanced around noticing the look on everyone\u2019s face. Everyone had a bored expression on their face, a few were even amused but no fear, or awe, that other planets had.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, you\u2019re right,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n She noticed that the girl stood to the spot watching the group. Her face however held anything but awe for the Ori. In fact her face seemed to hold an almost contempt for the Ori. Sam turned her attention back to Adria who now had begun speaking.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Ori are now your new gods. Bow down and worship them.\u201d Adria said to the villagers.<\/p>\n The group watched as no one in the crowd even bent a knee to the Ori.<\/p>\n \u201cOh boy, this is going to be messy,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed,\u201d Teal\u2019c replied.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you continue to resist then a plague shall kill you all,\u201d the prior said. His staff glowed slightly as the group recognized the familiar Prior disease beginning.<\/p>\n \u201cI guess we\u2019re stuck here then,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah,\u201d Samantha said. \u201cBut it\u2019s still odd that people here are unafraid of them.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think we should talk some more with Gaia,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cIt might be useful.\u201d<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n The inside of the inn remained peaceful as the group walked back in. Gaia had cleared another spot and motioned them over.<\/p>\n \u201cWould you like some more bread or some port, it\u2019s very good, Dionysus made it himself,\u201d Gaia said.<\/p>\n \u201cSure,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cGood, you\u2019re just in time, Calliope is about to tell some stories, very good,\u201d Gaia said. She seemed lost for a second before speaking again. \u201cI must clear another table, more visitors you know.\u201d<\/p>\n The group watched as Gaia cleared another table then suddenly were concerned when the Prior, and Adria walked into the room. The two groups glanced at each other for several seconds before Gaia walked back in.<\/p>\n \u201cOh good, you\u2019re here, I\u2019ve set a table for you over here,\u201d Gaia said, motioning the group on over.<\/p>\n Adria continued to look at the group. Surprisingly it was Gaia who broke the stare down.<\/p>\n \u201cThere will be no violence in my tavern,\u201d she said, suddenly much more menacing than anyone could imagine. As suddenly as it had appeared Gaia turned back into the hostess they had seen.<\/p>\n \u201cAll right, does any of this strike you as odd,\u201d Vala said.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything has,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t get it, these people act as if they don\u2019t have a care in the world, even though the Ori have threatened them,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cI\u2019m all for peaceful measures but this seems a bit extreme.\u201d<\/p>\n Gaia returned with food and drink as an older woman took the stage. They listened to her tales told in such rich vivid words that everyone felt they were there. A few stories later the woman left the stage.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve got company,\u201d Daniel said watching as Adria walked towards them.<\/p>\n \u201cI see that the non-believers of the Ori are present on this world,\u201d she said to them.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, we just have a different way of thinking, and know better,\u201d Vala said.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought that you were smarter than that mother. It\u2019s only a matter of time before the Ori take over the galaxy,\u201d Adria said looking at each of them, then at Daniel.<\/p>\n With that she left taking the others with her. Gaia walked over to where they were sitting.<\/p>\n \u201cStubborn one she is,\u201d Gaia said. \u201cMuch like my own children.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou have children,\u201d Val said.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, many,\u201d Gaia said. \u201cIn fact it was one of my grandchildren that overthrew his father, my son. Of course his mother, my daughter, helped.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYour son rules this planet,\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n \u201cThings are not so simple here as in the mortal realm,\u201d Gaia said. \u201cYou have your information Daniel.\u201d She walked away from the group back into the kitchen.<\/p>\n \u201cDid that make any sense,\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, somewhat, but I don\u2019t believe it,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat,\u201d Sam asked.<\/p>\n \u201cWell think about it for a second Sam,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cHera, Dite short for Aphrodite, Gaia, the description of Gaia\u2019s children sounds like Cronus, Zeus and Rhea. Perhaps they think they are the Greek gods and goddess. That would explain their behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn that case they are in for a major surprise,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re still here,\u201d they heard a child\u2019s voice say. They looked over to see Hera standing there.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat are you doing here,\u201d Samantha asked.<\/p>\n \u201cUncle Apollo is tending some sick servants in our house so I came here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Prior\u2019s disease. If you can take us to your uncle we might be able to help,\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n \u201cNah, Uncle Apollo is very good,\u201d Hera said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve had experience with this disease,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cReally, he said it wasn\u2019t natural,\u201d Hera said. \u201cHello Gaia.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHello little one, how are you today,\u201d Gaia said to the young girl.<\/p>\n \u201cApollo is at our house,\u201d Hera said with almost some excitement.<\/p>\n \u201cI know,\u201d Gaia said looking around. \u201cIt seems he is going to be needed.\u201d<\/p>\n The woman stayed quiet for a few more seconds. She then turned and left outside this time. The group wondered just what was going on now.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s gone to get great-great-grandfather. Your friends are in trouble now,\u201d Hera said, then skipped out of the tavern.<\/p>\n \u201cGreat-great-grandfather,\u201d Vala said looking at Daniel and Mitchell.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cIt seems that this entire planet is just crazy. Of course if they all think they are gods then it might explain some things.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYes it does, Apollo was the Greek god of the sun, but he was also associated with healing,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cDionysus is associated with wine making and Calliope is a Muse.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSeems like their names also fit their jobs,\u201d Vala said.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, but Hera\u2019s not a kid,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cDidn\u2019t she say she was named after her grandmother,\u201d Vala asked.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re right, but Aphrodite wasn\u2019t Hera\u2019s child,\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, but Zeus was her father and it\u2019s generally thought that Zeus and Hera were the rulers of the gods. So if Zeus is her grandfather she might associate Hera as her grandmother,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cWell regardless, I don\u2019t think they know what they\u2019re dealing with,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed, but the Ori are here and so is their plague,\u201d Teal\u2019c said nodding his head.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, I say we try and help them,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cAfter all, it\u2019s the right thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI agree,\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n The group walked out to see about heading to where they could help. They noticed Adria and the Prior were talking with a group of natives. Mitchell stopped to listen as did many of the others. They noticed that the girl Hera stood nearby.<\/p>\n \u201cResistance to the Ori is futile, why do people insist on even trying,\u201d Adria asked the older man.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause maybe its you who doesn\u2019t understand what\u2019s going on,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou realized that if you don\u2019t recognize the Ori\u2019s power then you will all die,\u201d Adria said with a hard voice.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re not nice,\u201d Hera suddenly said. No one in the group could remember the girl being there but suddenly there she was standing near the man.<\/p>\n \u201cI suggest you watch how your children speak,\u201d Adria said.<\/p>\n \u201cSays someone younger than me,\u201d Hera said. \u201cHa, you should talk.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI have the knowledge and power of the Ori, you are just a mortal child,\u201d Adria said.<\/p>\n \u201cHera, what has your mother said about such things,\u201d the man said to Hera.<\/p>\n The girl sighed before replying. \u201cShe said to think before I say anything. But if father was here, bam,\u201d she said pounding her fist into her other hand with a smile.<\/p>\n \u201cNone-the-less, Hera such things are not right. Your father was punished for such actions,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n The girl kicked some dirt in frustration then turned leaving the group once more.<\/p>\n \u201cThis village is frustrating,\u201d Adria said.<\/p>\n \u201cPatience isn\u2019t a strong suit for you is it,\u201d Vala said to Adria.<\/p>\n \u201cYou must get it from your mother,\u201d Daniel said as both Vala and Adria looked at him.<\/p>\n \u201cIts true,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou haven\u2019t left yet, pity for you then,\u201d Adria said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe thought we would see how you work,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt won\u2019t matter, the disease is working,\u201d Adria said looking over at where a man had collapsed.<\/p>\n \u201cOh no,\u201d Vala said as they ran over to where the man lay.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s not breathing,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is what will happen to you all if you fail to convert to the Ori,\u201d Adria said. She was about to say more when another man approached them.<\/p>\n He laid a hand upon Samantha. \u201cAllow me,\u201d he said in a gentle voice. His blonde hair, youthful appearance didn\u2019t hide the experienced look in his eyes.<\/p>\n Samantha moved out of the way watching as the man\u2019s hand glowed briefly. A second later the man\u2019s eye\u2019s opened.<\/p>\n \u201cLet me give you a hand up Isaac,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you Apollo,\u201d Isaac said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo need, I was coming here anyways,\u201d Apollo said, looking at the Prior. \u201cI have someone to talk to.\u201d<\/p>\n Isaac thanked Apollo again anyways then walked off. Apollo then walked towards Adria and the Prior. His steps were purposeful as he walked towards them.<\/p>\n \u201cAre you responsible for this disease?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGoa\u2019uld tricks will not cure this plague,\u201d the Prior said. \u201cOnly the Ori can cure it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNever mind, you\u2019ve answered my question,\u201d Apollo said. He waved his hand as it glowed slightly. \u201cThere, it\u2019s done.\u201d He walked away leaving the group wondering just what happened.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, that\u2019s interesting,\u201d Daniel said watching as Adria and the Prior walked away as well.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d like to have read some of the books but the Ori already burned them,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cBurned them, I just came from there and all the books are still there,\u201d a young man said walking by.<\/p>\n Daniel and the others glanced first at each other then walked to the library. Entering the room each was astonished as every book they had seen burned was on the shelf in front of them.<\/p>\n \u201cHave I mentioned yet that it\u2019s getting weird,\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, maybe there\u2019s something here that can help,\u201d Daniel said, walking though the books.<\/p>\n \u201cWell,\u201d Samantha asked watching as Daniel walked though the books.<\/p>\n \u201cMost of these I can\u2019t make out, but this one, it\u2019s in Ancient,\u201d Daniel said taking a book out. \u201cAnyone have a pen, I forgot mine?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHere,\u201d Samantha said handing Daniel her pen.<\/p>\n \u201cHere\u2019s a book in English,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cEnglish,\u201d Samantha said walking over to pick up the book. She skimmed though it a bit before a thought occurred to her. \u201cDaniel, this book is in perfect modern English.\u201d she said handing the book to him.<\/p>\n Daniel took the book then looked at the shelf. \u201cNot only that but this one is German, French, Japanese, Aztec?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAztec?\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, I learned some when I was in Central America a couple of years ago,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a who\u2019s who of gods and goddesses,\u201d Mitchell said skimming though the book. \u201cBut there is no mention of Merlin or any Ancient. A few Goa\u2019uld though.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed, the Goa\u2019uld took many names over other course of the years. Many times the names of gods or goddesses of the inhabitants where they first gained power,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cDoesn\u2019t make any sense though,\u201d Daniel said flipping though the books. He continued to scan though the book trying to see if anything could be helpful.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we should scout around for a bit, see if we can find anything,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cGood idea, Teal\u2019c and I will see if we can find anything out up the street,\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m going to stay here and see if these books have anything useful in them,\u201d Daniel said adjusting his glasses.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, I guess that leaves the two of us then,\u201d Vala said. Two groups left the library heading out to see what else was around.<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n Samantha and Teal\u2019c walked down the street watching as Ori priests tried to convert the people of the town. They noticed that many were not even paying attention and those who did seemed amused by the Ori.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a Goa\u2019uld legend about a planet who\u2019s people were so powerful that the Goa\u2019uld feared them,\u201d Teal\u2019c said. \u201cIt was rumored that they erased the gate address from all known gates to prevent anyone from coming here again.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t suppose that this is that planet,\u201d Sam asked.<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed it does. However I have seen no advanced weaponry that could be used against either the Goa\u2019uld or Ori,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cYet these people act like they don\u2019t have a care in the world,\u201d Sam said as they approached the end of the town. \u201cThis looks to be a bust.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed.\u201d<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n Mitchell and Vala walked the opposite way that Teal\u2019c and Sam went.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been to a lot of worlds now, yet this one seems to answer a question with a question,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s almost as if they can read your mind,\u201d Vala said.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought of that, tried some tricks to prevent it and they still knew things,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s also too weird walking around with the Ori right beside us,\u201d Vala said. They passed an Ori soldier who glanced at them then continued on his way. \u201cDo you think we\u2019re dealing with ascended beings?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know, but I can\u2019t rule out that possibility,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cThen are they ancients?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe you should have stayed with Daniel to ask those questions,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n Vala opened her mouth to ask another question when Daniel\u2019s voice interrupted her.<\/p>\n \u201cMitchell, Sam, I think I have something,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat is it,\u201d Mitchell asked as he and Vala stopped.<\/p>\n \u201cCome on back, you\u2019re not going to believe it,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cBe right there,\u201d Mitchell said as they turned right into Adria.<\/p>\n \u201cFigure out what\u2019s wrong with this planet and it people, then I should also know,\u201d she said to them. \u201cLead on.\u201d<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n Daniel waited outside the library for the group. It only took a few moments for them to show up along with another uninvited guest. He looked at Mitchell for an explanation.<\/p>\n \u201cShe invited herself,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter, what have you found out, or I\u2019ll take it from you,\u201d Adria said, in her usual threatening way. Daniel looked at them, then shrugged.<\/p>\n \u201cAll right, but you\u2019re not going to like it if I\u2019m right,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cAre they ascended beings, I\u2019m right, right,\u201d Vala said speaking up quickly.<\/p>\n \u201cAh, no,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cI was reading this book when I noticed it. The title changed.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI thought we destroyed all literature,\u201d Adria said turning to the Prior.<\/p>\n \u201cMistress, we did as you instructed,\u201d the Prior said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe library is fully stocked again,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cI don\u2019t think you\u2019ll be able to destroy the books either.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhat are you saying Daniel,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n \u201cThat we are not what we seem,\u201d a voice said from behind them.<\/p>\n They whirled around to see an older man standing there.<\/p>\n \u201cAllow me to introduce myself, I am Chaos,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cA non-believer,\u201d Adria said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, he is Chaos, the Chaos of Greek mythology,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cThey don\u2019t pretend to be gods, or use the gods\u2019 names, they are the gods.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cImpossible, only the Ori are gods,\u201d Adria said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been a long time since mortals from outside this world have seen us as who we are,\u201d Chaos said. He then turned to Adria. \u201cThe Ori are mortal, otherwise they would have different laws of interference.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTrue gods, ha,\u201d Adria said. \u201cFeel the power of the Ori then.\u201d<\/p>\n Chaos shook his head sadly as Adria sent a stream of flame towards him. The stream was merely snuffed out as it hit him.<\/p>\n \u201cThe power of the Ori are but toys to the power of a true god or goddess,\u201d Chaos said. \u201cA true god\u2019s powers would overwhelm a mere mortal. In fact at one time even the Ori and the Ancients worshipped one of us. I can see though that you will not stop trying, therefore,\u201d a wave of his hands the Ori disappeared.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat just happened,\u201d Daniel asked.<\/p>\n \u201cThey were sent home,\u201d Chaos said.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ll return and in greater numbers,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cThey don\u2019t give up.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey will never remember,\u201d Chaos said.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is some technology that can bring back such memories,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cSuch devices are child\u2019s toys,\u201d Chaos replied. \u201cTheir memories are not only erased and replaced, but altered at the basic levels of life,\u201d Chaos said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can manipulate the sub-atomic level,\u201d Samantha said suddenly excited.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, the basic level of life. Atomic structure has nothing to do with this,\u201d Chaos said. \u201cI don\u2019t expect you to understand such things. That level requires understandings in dimensions you are not even aware of yet.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAll right,\u201d Daniel said still not sure about that.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, what\u2019s next,\u201d Vala asked speaking up for the first time in a while.<\/p>\n \u201cWe send you back as well. The knowledge of this planet will be wiped from your minds as well as your computer back on Earth,\u201d Chaos said.<\/p>\n \u201cBut\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n \u201cIncoming wormhole,\u201d the announcement said as the stargate activated. \u201cReceiving SG-1 codes.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOpen the iris,\u201d Landry said. The iris opened allowing SG-1 to walk though the gateway. \u201cWell, anything?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNothing sir,\u201d Mitchell replied. \u201cThe only thing there were forests. We didn\u2019t find anything worthwhile on the planet.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWell, it was worth a try, get back to work and see if you can find Merlin\u2019s weapon then,\u201d Landry said.<\/p>\n \u201cYes sir,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n The team walked into a restaurant near the base for a bit of relaxation. They still were not any closer to finding out where Merlin\u2019s weapon was. Landry had ordered them to take a bit of a break.<\/p>\n \u201cHave any of you seen my pen,\u201d Samantha asked.<\/p>\n \u201cDid you not put it in your pocket before the last mission,\u201d Teal\u2019c said wearing his baseball hat.<\/p>\n \u201cI did, but when we got back it was gone, I don\u2019t remember using it,\u201d Samantha said. She was about to say more when a tug at her sleeve made her look down. A young child stood there. \u201cHello, can I help you?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou dwoped this,\u201d the girl said handing Samantha a pen.<\/p>\n \u201cHow,\u201d Sam said as she took her pen from the girl.<\/p>\n \u201cPerhaps it was in a different pocket,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, I checked them all,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have been under a bit of stress Sam,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cWe all overlooked things before.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThank you,\u201d Samantha said finally to the little girl.<\/p>\n \u201cSamantha is a pwetty name,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, thanks, what\u2019s yours,\u201d Sam asked feeling a fit flustered.<\/p>\n \u201cHewa,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou mother knows her history then,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n \u201cMy mother\u2019s calling me, I need to get back,\u201d the girl said. She took a step then stopped.
