Part 3<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Apollo looked on as the Galactica dropped out of hyperspace. The scanners quickly looking around for any sign of a Cylon basestar.\u00a0 The last thing he wanted was to be caught unaware of the enemy so close.<\/p>\n

\u201cScanners clear,\u201d the reply came back.<\/p>\n

\u201cEngage the cloak,\u201d Apollo said, a new technology which had been developed by the Gou\u2019ald and adapted by the Tau\u2019ri and now this vessel. It would come in handy for this operation.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlanet appears suitable for our operations,\u201d his scientific officer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBegin preparations for a landing party to scout around, make sure things are quiet down there,\u201d Apollo said. They had a lot of work to do if they wanted to get a base up and operational and dial back to Earth.<\/p>\n

The group went about their operations as Boomer made his way over.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou really think all of this will work?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoping it will,\u201d Apollo stated unsure himself if this would work. It felt odd to be back in his home galaxy after everything which happened.\u00a0 \u201cStart sending people down to the surface and looking around.\u00a0 The quicker we set things up the quicker we can contact Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOn it,\u201d Boomer said, moving to get the proper people working and sending the supplies down to the surface.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne planet won\u2019t be enough,\u201d Apollo finally said realizing something about it all. They would need several bases in the galaxy to really gain a picture of what was going on in the galaxy.\u00a0 They would also need to eventually battle the Cylons again, if not now than in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cScouting team underway,\u201d Boomer said finally.<\/p>\n

Apollo nodded knowing that things were going according to plan and hoped they didn\u2019t encounter any Cylons. \u201cGo ahead and send out some vipers to patrol the surrounding area and make sure there are no Cylons around here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShouldn\u2019t be, according to all reports they were still a bit behind us, and are probably wondering what happened to us,\u201d Boomer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wonder if anyone managed to escape in the ships?\u201d Apollo said seeing Boomer pause at that thought. It had been almost a year since they left and he had no hope they managed to survive this long.\u00a0 A lot had happened since then which he had never expected to happen.\u00a0 He learned a lot of what had happened in other galaxies as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be amazing if they did,\u201d Boomer said. \u201cBut would we be able to do anything?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt all depends on the situation,\u201d Apollo said knowing he couldn\u2019t just abandon his people if they were still out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

For now he would concentrate on his mission.<\/p>\n

Apollo beamed down to the surface into a cavern.<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome down to Alpha base,\u201d someone said. Apollo turned to see Captain Leon standing there.<\/p>\n

Apollo looked around seeing that things were actually progressing very well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks, things are looking pretty good down here,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got several areas set up now, including housing and the gateroom.<\/p>\n

Apollo nodded knowing that the gate had been sent down some time ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow\u2019s that going?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeen working on that for a while now, think we just about have it set up. We\u2019ll be trying it out shortly,\u201d Leon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s good news,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny signs of Cylons?\u201d Leon asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, and that\u2019s the good news,\u201d Apollo replied as they moved on to a large room set up very much like what he saw in Atlantis.<\/p>\n

\u201cImpressive,\u201d Apollo said seeing the room. \u201cIs the ZPM set up?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s what we\u2019re working on, right now the base is running on Naquadah generators which will provide the normal power for the base. The ZPM will only be used for dialing Earth, nothing else.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apollo nodded again at everything. \u201cIts simple amazing at the amount of work which has gone on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSome advanced tech helps,\u201d Leon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSir, incoming message from the Galactica.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apollo walked over as it was put though and Boomer\u2019s face appeared on the screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s going on Boomer?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot sure, we thought we picked up something on the scanners, but it didn\u2019t last long,\u201d Boomer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCloaked?\u201d Leon asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cPossible, but we\u2019ve never encountered any cloaked ships in this galaxy,\u201d Apollo replied. \u201cSend out a few more patrols to check the area out.\u00a0 There might be someone out there and we want to know about them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThought so, have the scouts ready to go,\u201d Boomer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me know if they find anything,\u201d Apollo stated hoping they had not discovered anyone else in the area.<\/p>\n

The screen went dark as Apollo gave it some thought. It could be anything but with the Cylons in the galaxy he wasn\u2019t about to take any chances.\u00a0 He seriously doubted they had perfected a cloaking technology in the time they had been gone but he couldn\u2019t afford to be lax in his approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeems like things are interesting around here,\u201d Leon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, in a way I hoped wasn\u2019t too interesting,\u201d Apollo replied back. The last thing he wanted was for some problem to occur while they were still here and the gate had yet to be tried.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Sam looked up as Daniel made his way into the office.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey Sam, you said you had something for me?\u201d Daniel asked her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, glad you could make it,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, took me a while to get away from the expedition but what is it?\u201d Daniel asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need some people to head to the Lucian Alliance, a diplomatic mission along with some of the people from the Colonials,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay, but why?\u201d Daniel asked sounding skeptical.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve been snooping around New Caperica and have tried to infiltrate it now and our records regarding them were hacked,\u201d Sam said.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI don\u2019t think they know how dangerous the Cylons could be.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you want me to go with them to help tell them the danger?\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, if they make contact with the Cylons and give them hyperspace technology we could have a fight on our hands unlike the war against the Gou\u2019ald or Ori, or even the Wraith,\u201d Sam replied knowing against the Cylons, if what she had been told, they would not stop until all humans were dead.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, they wouldn\u2019t be a nice enemy, more like the replicators,\u201d Daniel stated. \u201cWhen do we leave?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ll head to Caperica and board the Hammond, it\u2019s already there waiting,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, I\u2019ll gather my stuff,\u201d Daniel said. Even before he left the siren came on along with a flashing red light.<\/p>\n

\u201cOff world activation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sam stood and headed to the gateroom along with Daniel reaching it rather quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s going on?\u201d Sam asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cIncoming wormhole,\u201d the reply came back.<\/p>\n

\u201cClose the iris,\u201d Sam said watching as the iris closed shut before hearing the gate activate. It took a few seconds before anything happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cIncoming transmission, getting the Galactica\u2019s code.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPut it though,\u201d Sam said looking down at the screen before Apollo\u2019s face appeared.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeneral Carter, good to see you,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you to commander,\u201d Sam replied hoping the connection meant what she hoped it was.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt appears everything is stable,\u201d she heard someone else say.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take it everything is going good over there?\u201d Sam asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, so far no sign of Cylons and the base is being set up rather quickly,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a bit of good news,\u201d Sam said. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a problem with the Lucian Alliance here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey tried to infiltrate New Caperica, and seem fixated on the Cylons,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat, just what we need, someone who thinks they are a new ally,\u201d Apollo stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got a group headed to them to talk to them before they do something stupid,\u201d Sam said back to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cReceiving gate address.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sam took a second to review the address knowing it was going to be the furthest gate they had established a connection with.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s the situation there?\u201d Sam asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo far everything is quiet,\u201d Apollo replied. \u201cWe have no reports of Cylons nearby, we might have to establish more bases to get a clearer picture of what is going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll think about that situation,\u201d Sam said knowing for now they had an established base in the galaxy would give them more information than they had before.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo sign of any other ships, but then again we are several systems away from where the previous gate was located,\u201d Apollo said. \u201cMight send the Galactica on a few recon patrols to the surrounding systems and see what\u2019s out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMight be a good idea,\u201d Sam said. \u201cBut be careful, don\u2019t want to give away our position too much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust knowing they are out there is dangerous,\u201d Apollo replied back to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll send the information to my commanders, see what they think,\u201d Sam replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we might have a few stargates we can use for such a purpose,\u201d Sam said thinking of a few gate address of planets which were dangerous to life to take. Not every world with a gate was a nice place.\u00a0 It was like the Ancients had just seeded every world capable of life and put a gate on it regardless of how dangerous it might become.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll keep in touch and check around for any Cylons,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll be waiting to hear any reports,\u201d Sam said as the gate closed and she looked back at Daniel.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, that went well,\u201d he finally said to her as they walked back to the office.<\/p>\n

\u201cBetter than I hoped, and I doubt the Colonials will want to establish more bases despite what my superiors say,\u201d Sam said already knowing what they might have to say.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know, do you think its wise to make more bases?\u201d Daniel asked as well. \u201cI mean the more we have the higher probably well have that we\u2019ll encounter these Cylons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we still need the information, and sending a ship around will be just as noticeable. A small base might not be noticed, and if they rigged to self-destruct along with the gate it will be easier to move around,\u201d Sam said logically, or so she thought in her mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cI\u2019m going to prepare to head out and meet the Lucian Alliance, though I\u2019m not sure how well they will receive us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTry, and let them know about this enemy, its not one they want to befriend,\u201d Sam stated recalling the reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight,\u201d Daniel said, moving away and leaving Sam to report to her superiors about the latest events. She felt sure they would think one base was more than enough.<\/p>\n

Apollo made his way back onto the bridge after getting the tour around the base. Things were progressing smoothly but it still wasn\u2019t fully operational yet.\u00a0 There were a lot of things to do to get it there.\u00a0 Once it was operational people could move back and forth from the base through the gate.\u00a0 There would also be a regular ship which would come by as well.<\/p>\n

It was all set up to operate on its own once complete and they would be heading back to New Caperica once more.\u00a0 He was concerned with the thought the Lucian Alliance had been snooping around.\u00a0 From reports they were not a very stable group and ruled by some shady people.\u00a0 If they really thought allying with the Cylons was a good idea they were more unstable than he thought.<\/p>\n

Entering the bridge he looked around seeing the normal people there, except Boomer.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommander,\u201d one said seeing him come in.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s the situation?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo far everything\u2019s normal,\u201d the reply came back. \u201cWe\u2019re cloaked, and no ships have been spotted at all in the system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apollo felt a bit of relief at that but did wonder where the Cylons were. He knew they were out there somewhere and sooner or later they would encounter them.<\/p>\n

For now his mission was simply to provide recon for the area around the planet until the base was operational. Once that happened then they were to head back home.\u00a0 He briefly wondered about stopping at a few other planets for recon purposes.<\/p>\n
