The Uneasy Alliance<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Part 27<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Morpheus entered Zion seeing several people look over at him. The fact he wasn\u2019t immediately captured made him feel a bit better, but not much.\u00a0 Now he had to find a way to head to the council and get them to see reason.<\/p>\n

\u201cMorpheus,\u201d Turner said walking up to him, flanked by two other men.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeneral, what is the situation?\u201d Morpheus asked hoping to gain some insight into what had been going on and if he needed to run, wait, or be captured.<\/p>\n

\u201cInteresting,\u201d Turner said. \u201cYou\u2019re still going to be under arrest, follow me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morpheus recognized the tone the other man used as one that he didn\u2019t want to talk here. That and the fact he seemed relaxed meant there was a lot going on.\u00a0 Following the men they headed to the jail in silence despite others watching them.\u00a0 Morpheus looked on seeing a mix of fear and hope in their actions as they walked by making him wonder what the council was doing.<\/p>\n

Turner turned to the two men who both nodded and left.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can talk,\u201d Turner said finally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s going on?\u201d Morpheus said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe council is going crazy,\u201d Turner replied. \u201cThe main cause is Zack, he completely overrules anyone who tries to bring up a counter point.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost to the point where he\u2019s a dictator.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are the others doing?\u201d Morpheus asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s just it, no one has the power to stand up to him,\u201d Turner said. \u201cAnyone who tries is removed from their position and replaced.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morpheus felt stunned at what he was being told.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s created an underground resistance to him,\u201d Turner said. \u201cThe only problem is he has some very staunch supporters, we have to be careful who we talk to.\u00a0 No one trusts anyone.\u00a0 I fear things will head to a civil war.\u201d<\/p>\n

The information wasn\u2019t what he expected to hear at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow are things going on the surface?\u201d Turner asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot smoother than here,\u201d Morpheus said. \u201cWith help from the Colonials we\u2019ve launched a new battlestar, a large space warship, called the Enterprise and have already destroyed a Cylon basestar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCylon?\u201d Turner asked. \u201cWait, that is this robot enemy right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, they are real,\u201d Morpheus said. \u201cCurrently the Enterprise is being manned by some from the Colonial fleet and people taken from the Matrix.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReally, people are being released from the Matrix?\u201d Turner said stunned.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, they are being trained in the positions needed, heard one of the men taken is a former carrier commander in the matrix,\u201d Morpheus said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe machines are taking this threat seriously, a lot more than our leaders,\u201d Tuner said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m here,\u201d Morpheus said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think there is much you can so,\u201d Turner said in a sad voice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll figure something out,\u201d Morpheus said as he walked into the cell knowing he had allies this time.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Apollo watched another shuttle head up to the Enterprise taking more crew members up to the ship. He observed the group and most seemed a bit in awe of what was going on, a few were looking around and others were silently talking amongst themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do you think?\u201d Apollo asked Niobe who was standing nearby.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will take some time for them to get adjusted that this isn\u2019t the Matrix anymore and the life they thought they knew was only a computer simulation of life,\u201d Niobe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeems strange to me,\u201d Apollo replied, unsure what to make if it all. The Matrix seemed like some unknown thing he would never be able to touch, or even experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the plus side they are quickly trained,\u201d Niobe stated. \u201cThe interface with the Matrix allows us to quickly download the information into a person\u2019s brain.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMakes us sound like a computer,\u201d Apollo replied, unsure he liked that bit of information even as another thought occurred to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we can trust them to not have some secret download?\u201d Apollo asked her.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t,\u201d Niobe replied back honestly, her stance changing slightly as DE made its way over to where they were standing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are waiting to start the next ship,\u201d DE said to him, something he had not expected to hear.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoctor Wilker wants to inspect the wreckage of the basestar which went down not far from here, and with that hopefully make improvements in the next design of battlestars,\u201d DE said to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, that makes a bit of sense,\u201d Apollo replied knowing how Wilker could get when investigating a new technology. And if it helped them in the fight against the Cylons than anything was welcome.\u00a0 During the war they had little change to really study the latest designs.\u00a0 If they could get a technological advantage over the Cylons it could be a tremendous boost in the war.<\/p>\n

\u201cWas it hard to find recruits?\u201d Niobe asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, with the help of Neo inside the Matrix it went pretty quick,\u201d DE said. \u201cWe used the attacks to gather volunteers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStill must be a shock to learn about all of this,\u201d Apollo stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll need to keep an eye on them as well,\u201d Niobe said. \u201cSome can\u2019t handle the fact they are no longer in the Matrix, go mad.\u00a0 An old saying, ignorance is bliss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apollo wondered about that for a few seconds realizing that it was indeed bliss, especially considering reality. It was a cruel harsh world.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat about food and such?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working on that as well,\u201d DE said. \u201cWithout sunlight however it is proving difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGuess I better get something over here as well, and we need to figure something out,\u201d Apollo said, knowing this would prove to be a sticking point.<\/p>\n

\u201cZion could help here, but their willingness to help is in question,\u201d Niobe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll head up and contact the Galactica, Adama or even someone on our Argo ships might have a solution,\u201d Apollo replied, and headed over to the shuttle to head on up and see what he could do.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Apollo walked onto the bridge of the Enterprise heading straight over to where Tigh stood who noticed him approach and waited.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaptain, what brings you here?\u201d Tigh asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cA situation has arisen which needs to be looked into,\u201d Apollo said. \u201cFood.\u201d<\/p>\n

He watched Tigh appear to think about the statement for a moment before replying.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, we have a few more mouths to feed now,\u201d Tigh said. \u201cAnd from what I saw on the surface I doubt the machines were growing crops.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, from what I\u2019ve learned, how they fed us you don\u2019t\u2019 want to know,\u201d another man said, and Apollo recognized him as the one who had been on the surface and mentioned he had been a captain of a ship in the Matrix.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s contact the fleet, they might have something,\u201d Tigh said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to get hungry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apollo watched as it took only a few seconds before the communications was established and Adama\u2019s face appeared on the screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cTigh, is everything all right?\u201d Adama asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes and no, we\u2019ve come across a potential problem,\u201d Tigh said to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFood,\u201d Tigh said watching as Adama seemed to understand.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I\u2019ve already sent a message to the Argo ships. \u201cWe don\u2019t know about Earth or is condition.\u00a0 They already think they can do something, but I\u2019m also looking at other planets which we might be able to use.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can send out patrols and check,\u201d Tigh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo it,\u201d Adama said. \u201cOne might be easy to colonize as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll get a patrol going at once and let you know the situation,\u201d Tigh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the meantime we\u2019ll send a shuttle with some supplies, tis the best we can do for now until something else comes up,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBe careful, there might still be Cylons around, we destroyed the basestar on the planet\u2019s surface but there\u2019s no way to tell if there are more around here,\u201d Tigh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s my concern,\u201d Adama said. \u201cWe\u2019ll be in touch.\u201d<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Adama waited until the captain of one of the argo ships answered his hail. He needed information about what they might need to do to start a farm or something on Earth and knowing the conditions it might be almost impossible.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs there anything on the long range scanners?\u201d Adama asked, hoping they were clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing at the moment,\u201d Athena replied back to him.<\/p>\n

He wasn\u2019t sure if he felt relief or more anxiety over the answer. He had a feeling the Cylons were still out there, and a Cylon basestar had been destroyed on Earth, it made him question if there were not more out there.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommander, Captain Aaron is on the line,\u201d Omega said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks,\u201d Adama said, switching tot eh communications to see the captain.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommander, you needed to speak with me?\u201d Aaron asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, we have a situation which has arisen and I need your expertise from the argo ships,\u201d Adama stated. \u201cWe\u2019ve encountered a situation where we might need to send one of the ships to a planet to help food production.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not following commander,\u2019 Aaron said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you alone?\u201d Adama asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes sir,\u201d Aaron replied sounding nervous.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have found Earth, but there are, complications,\u201d Adama stated to him watching as he went from excited to confused. \u201cThe atmosphere is clouded over not allowing sunlight to reach the surface, but we\u2019re gaining a new ally in our fight as well.\u00a0 We need your help to increase out production food, perhaps send one of the argo ships ahead and see what you can do.\u201d<\/p>\n

He watched Aaron think it over a bit more before replying. \u201cI think I can.\u00a0 Give us a bit to come up with a plan, and we\u2019ll need to see what the surface is like as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat can be arranged,\u201d Adama said. \u201cFor now we need rations for an additional battlestar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother battlestar, how did you managed that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIts all part of the complicated situation we find ourselves in currently,\u201d Adama said, running a hand though his hair wondering how much he should tell them knowing they would need to know before they arrived at Earth. \u201cYou\u2019ll receive more information shortly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, I\u2019ll get to work on something for an atmosphere with little sunlight, we have some crops which work,\u201d Aaron stated signing off.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou think it\u2019ll work?\u201d Omega asked from he stood having taken over Tigh\u2019s position.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope so,\u201d Adama said, \u201cI hope one of the other planets are better, it would avoid running though that atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n

He hoped they could come up with a solution otherwise things might get even worse than it was now.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

The centurion walked in the command room as Hades turned, waiting for the report.<\/p>\n

\u201cReport,\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cPatrols have encountered a group of ships, we believe it to be the Colonial fleet,\u201d the centurion said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the Galactica, has it moved from the planet?\u201d Hades asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has not,\u201d the centurion replied back to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen prepare to attack at once,\u201d Hades replied back to the centurion.<\/p>\n

Destroying the fleet would be a large achievement in the war against the humans.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Bojay launched along with Greenbean, his current partner for this patrol. Things had been tense lately and with rumors of Cylons and a planet he had no idea what was going on.\u00a0 The commanders were being quiet at the moment only saying something was going on.<\/p>\n

Several shuttles had left toward a planet they had found and Bojay figured it had to do with some sort of bartering to gain some supplies but where the Cylons came in he wasn\u2019t sure. Now flying though the fleet he headed in the direction of the planet as the commander wanted them to patrol the area.<\/p>\n

With Apollo, Boomer and Sheba gone the roll of leading the viper squadrons had fallen on him, something he wasn\u2019t familiar with.<\/p>\n

\u201cBojay, think we\u2019ll find anything?\u201d Greenbean asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNah,\u201d Bojay replied. He would be surprised if they did see anything.\u00a0 He also felt that the commander would have said something to him before the patrol, something to keep an eye out for.<\/p>\n

They flew in silence for a while heading to their patrol area. He looked around at the vastness of space wondering what other surprises were out there when an alert forced him to look back down at eh scanner and froze at what he saw.<\/p>\n
