Legacy of the Guardians<\/span><\/h2>\n

Chapter 7<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahmed, Jack and Joseph arrived at the hotel in Washington DC close to midnight. Jack was tired after travelling so much in the day.\u00a0 The flight was delayed slightly due to other flights.\u00a0\u00a0 But they managed to arrive, then take private cars to the hotel.\u00a0 The hardest part, their meeting was scheduled for seven in the morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay, we\u2019ll meet back down here at four-thirty in the morning,\u201d Jack said to Joseph as Ahmed followed along.\u00a0 He and Admiral Cave were sharing a room, both to cut costs and security for Ahmed.\u00a0 Tensions were still high.<\/p>\n

Ahmed quickly decided to get some sleep.\u00a0 Jack watched as he went straight to bed, falling asleep.\u00a0 He shook his head wishing he could fall asleep so easily.\u00a0 He always had a hard time falling asleep, but he was not a light sleeper.\u00a0 Sure an alarm could wake up, but people walking around in the room did not disturb him.\u00a0 Strangely he did not feel tired, due to the time difference he lived on compared to Eastern USA time zone.\u00a0 Opening a laptop deciding to catch up on work.<\/p>\n

Hours later Jack sat back in his chair, stretching his back.\u00a0 He looked over and reaffirmed his suspicion.\u00a0 It was fifteen to four, standing he walked over to the bathroom to shower and shave.\u00a0 Stepping out of the shower he saw Ahmed awake.<\/p>\n

\u201cMorning, sleep well?\u201d Jack asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cHad worse, at least the bed was comfortable,\u201d Ahmed replied.<\/p>\n

Jack nodded, knowing that some beds on board the ships could be uncomfortable, at best.\u00a0 \u201cShower\u2019s all yours,\u201d Jack said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks,\u201d Ahmed replied, heading into the bathroom.<\/p>\n

By four-thirty all three were downstairs in the lobby, dressed in their US military uniforms.\u00a0 They had uniforms for every major military, in case it was needed.\u00a0 Walking out, grabbing a quick bit to eat at a caf\u00e9 that was open twenty-four seven before making their sway to the White House.<\/p>\n

Enduring a pat down, ad waiting for the President, several people finally walked in along with the President.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeneral Ginal, I\u2019m told you wish to talk to me?\u201d President Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes sir Mr. President,\u201d Joseph said, shaking his hand.\u00a0 \u201cIts quite important, and confidential, so we\u2019ll need to talk in private.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph nodded his head towards the aides.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have top level clearance,\u201d Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith due respect, what you\u2019re about to hear, they are not cleared for,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 We\u2019ve allowed it so you can be cleared, but not them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have my curiosity raised,\u201d Bush said.\u00a0 \u201cVery well gentleman, this way.\u201d<\/p>\n

They walked into the Oval office, sitting down in the sofa.\u00a0 Jack took out a small devise used to prevent any recording of the conversation, technology picked up from the Ilderians.\u00a0 Jack noticed bush looking at it, but said nothing about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay general, what\u2019s up?\u201d Bush asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst off, allow me to introduce Admiral Jack Cave, and Colonel Ahmed,\u201d Joseph said, the other two nodded their heads.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdmiral Cave, not familiar with that name, hat fleet are you assigned to?\u201d Bush said, impressing Jack, he knew enough to know his admirals.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot any fleet you\u2019re familiar with,\u201d Joesph replied as they understood his confusion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take it then you\u2019re going to enlighten me?\u201d Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m not sure where to begin,\u201d Joseph said, Jack realized he never had done this before.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow about why you\u2019re here?\u201d\u00a0 Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay,\u201d Jack said. \u00a0\u201cWe believe that the person, or persons, responsible for the terror attacks Tuesday were alien.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were, illegal aliens,\u201d Bush remarked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo sir, not human, but alien, as in not from Earth, more specifically Skartian,\u201d Jack said, seeing disbelief in his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a joke, right,\u201d Bush said.\u00a0 \u201cGeneral, you\u2019ve had a good career, but this, its far fetched even for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps we should give him a brief history,\u201d Jack said, looking at Joseph as they communicated quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat would help,\u201d Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 1917 a plot was hatch by a race called the Skartians, set out to conquer Earth and destroy humankind,\u201d Joseph said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you know your history, you\u2019ll know after World War One, there were some massive cultural changes going on.\u00a0 The Skartians made contact with us during the war, and using the confusion of the war infiltrated many organizations.\u00a0 At first they influenced people, but later on they would take charge,\u201d Jack said to him, recalling eth history he learned.<\/p>\n

He looked over to Ahmed looking on as well, he probably knew some of this history, then back at the President before continuing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was by accident we discovered the first Skartian.\u00a0 The US military was the first to find the Skartians, a guard interrupted an attempt to kidnap Roosevelt.\u00a0 They quickly classified the incident top secret, all notes about it destroyed and those involved became the first to know.\u00a0 An interrogation of the alien revealed several top leaders, including those of Japan, Italy and Germany had been taken over, or replaced,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 \u201cThey quickly informed Britian, Canada, France and the Soviet Union.\u00a0 The Soviets barely managed to avoid being taken over, as they had several people influenced by the Skartians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou mean the countries of the Axis powers were being led by aliens?\u201d Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a way, yes,\u201d Jack Joseph answered.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they replaced a person, they would kill them.\u00a0 Hitler was one who was replaced, why do you think his body was never found, it would have looked strange had they discovered an alien.\u00a0 The Skartians used our own destructive nature, and prejudices to enflamed people,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 \u201cThe Skartian we know as Hitler went about killing a large number of people, the Jews were the beginning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe realized during the war from a defector that Hitler was not human, but a Skartian.\u00a0 Few knew about the Skartians, and it wasn\u2019t until Churchill heard the story that things changed.\u00a0 The influence they had in Germany was startling to everyone.\u00a0 How easily we were able to go along with killing ourselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe managed to form an international alliance to fight these aliens, and in many cases they were killed.\u00a0 They had managed to secure a foothold in every country in the world.\u00a0 During the war we made I our goal to eliminate them, but we realized as their goal was to destroy us, once this method failed they probably would invade with their troops.\u00a0 Their technology was more advanced than ours.\u00a0 However, we had some luck on ourside.\u00a0 A race called the Ilderians made contact with us.\u00a0 With their help we managed to fight back.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the period after World War Two, we managed to build up a fleet to fight back.\u00a0 It took fifteen years but when the Skartians finally came back in force, we were ready.\u00a0 They had not expected us to fight back in space,\u201d Jack said, wondering how much he should tell him but continued on.\u00a0 \u201cAfter the war, the major leaders gathered together and formed an international defense force, separate from any government, able to defend Earth from the Skartian threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is that fleet which we are a part of,\u201d Joseph said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the years wars were used as a cover for the losses against the Skartians.\u00a0 Ironically it was Stalin who proposed a Cold War between the USA and USSR, it allowed money and supplies to flow into the defense force from both sides without causing much suspicion,\u201d Jack said, knowing the tale seemed improbably, but it was the truth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy not tell the public?\u201d Bush asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cPsyological reports of the day were carried out, remember War of the Worlds, a test for the people. \u00a0It was determined to wait so no mass panic would happen.\u00a0 We recruit troops from all over the world.\u00a0 A few people know, and donate money independently.\u00a0 We also hold a couple of copyrights through fake companies that we developed.\u00a0 In fact many employees for those companies don\u2019t know about the other aspect of the company and go about blissfully unaware,\u201d Joseph said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, is the war over?\u201d Bush asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thought so,\u201d Joseph replied.\u00a0 \u201cA peace treaty was signed in 1988, and took a couple of years to fully enforce.\u00a0 We shut down the cold war hoping we would no longer need the funds, but recent events have changed that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened?\u201d Bush asked again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had been intercepting coded messages to Earth from the Skartian Empire, and within hours of the terror attacks in New York we intercepted an invasion fleet, which was defeated by our defense forces,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 \u201cThat\u2019s why we think there is a Skartian involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUnbelievable,\u201d Bush finally said.\u00a0 \u201cQuite a story, but I have to go back to reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. President,\u201d one aide said, who had not left the room.\u00a0 \u201cThey are telling the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jack recognized him as one of the guards for the President against a Skartian kidnapping.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo joke?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo sir, I\u2019m part of the group that is also responsible for guarding you against a Skartian, either to kill you or kidnap you,\u201d the aide said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the Cold War was a cover for the war against this group, the Skartians?\u201d Bush said, piecing it together somewhat.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes sir,\u201d the aide said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow many other Presidents knew about this?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOnly one, and it was during the darkest days,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 \u201cWe thought we might lose the war, and developed the Cuban missile crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was planned?\u201d Bush stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost major events were, usually as a distraction for the public, and then we added in some conspiracy theories and such, it\u2019s amazing how you point people in one direction they completely ignore the truth,\u2019 Joseph said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, did Kennedy know?\u201d Bush asked question, trying to pin down which President knew.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, seconds before they killed him and replaced him,\u201d Jack replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Skartians killed him in Dallas?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, that was a Skartian, Kennedy was already dead,\u201d Jacks aid.\u00a0 \u201cWe already knew when he arrived in Dallas, the assignation was set up rather hastily,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 \u201cIt was full of problems, but we managed to get it done, and then we added in a bit of consipiracy with another shooter, the perceived killing of Oswald, and everything else, got people looking in another direction.\u00a0 Oswald was stunned in the police station, he was already a member of the defence team, in fact he was killed a year later when his fighter was destroy in battle,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUnreal,\u2019 bush said.\u00a0 \u201cSo, I take it then that these Skartians connect with the terrorist attacks is the reason why you\u2019re telling me, but what else.\u00a0 From what you\u2019ve said, there must be more.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is, we\u2019ll need help from the US to fight the war here,\u201d Jacks aid.\u00a0 \u201cA war on terror to cover what we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s possible, the US will be looking for those who committed the act,\u201d Bush said, thinking logically.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s possible you\u2019ll be remembers not so well,\u201d Jacks aid.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daddy brought me up to do what\u2019s right,\u201d Bush told him.\u00a0 Jack realized they made the right decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow will you contact me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThough me sir,\u201d the aide said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anyone else comes to contact you about this, get away from then and head to me at once,\u201d the aide said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t afford a Skartian in power of the USA,\u201d Jack said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what will you do if you do find a Skartian?\u00a0 Cover it up?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDepends, at the end of World War Two, we put those we found on trial, a way for us to tell them we know about you.\u00a0 Each of them was sentenced to death,\u201d Joseph said.\u00a0 \u201cIf he\u2019s human, we\u2019ll keep him and you can tell the world he died.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019ll learn there is more than what he thought out there,\u201d Ahmed said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd a Skartian, well we have the ability to try in the Galactic courts,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 \u201cIt will do a lot to help r standing among the other races.\u00a0 Most view both races as dangerous.\u00a0 However, more view humanity a bit better, as we have yet to attack anyone as a race, unlike the Skartians have.\u00a0 Right now they are trying to figure out what to do with them, especially after they stormed out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have allies this time as well, more than just the Ilderians this time,\u201d Joseph said.\u00a0 \u201cThey view us as a check to the aggression of the Skartians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds like the enemy of my enemy is my friend,\u201d Bush said, looking at the three gentlemen.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor some, maybe, others have been our allies since the beginning,\u201d Jack replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow did you keep casualties a secret?\u201d Bush asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a hard part, but when you have war, there are losses, so we hid the losses among the conflicts of the Cold War, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and other areas of conflict,\u201d Joseph replied.\u00a0 \u201cIt was an enormous undertaking.\u00a0 Those from smaller less developed countries could be ignored, but countries like the USA and USSR, it was a bit harder.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIs language a problem?\u201d Bush asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, we have communicators for that, when Ahmed joined he didn\u2019t speak any English, but as long as both parties have the communicator, they can understand each other,\u201d Jack said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazing, like star Trek.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, Gene Roddenberry is part of the defense force,\u201d Joseph said.\u00a0 \u201cPart of the group slowly making the population ready for contact.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo what\u2019s your plan for this terrorist group?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAhmed and a few other agents will try to infiltrate the group to check for Skartians, once that mission is over we shall determine what the next phase is, and if we are needed anymore.\u00a0 It could turn out to be entirely human, but I doubt it,\u201d Jack said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you need the US to provide cover for your group?\u201d Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cExactly, we work in the shadows on Earth, in space we\u2019re the front line,\u201d Joseph said to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can try, but I don\u2019t know if those in Congress will work with me,\u201d Bush said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have some there, fought in the war, but I can\u2019t tell you who they are,\u201d Joseph said.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnderstandable,\u201d Bush said, standing up and looking over at Ahmed.\u00a0 \u201cGood luck colonel.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you,\u201d Ahmed replied, shaking the President\u2019s hand.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll coordinate with our allies in congress and you, don\u2019t worry, we\u2019ll be discreet, but you might take a hit in the polls,\u201d Joseph said honestly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do whatever I can to help, besides, history will eventually know the truth, and with that, I can bear anything,\u201d Bush said.<\/p>\n

With that they said their good-byes, and made their way out of the office and back to their hotel room.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen do you think you can start?\u201d Jack asked Ahmed on the way back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was thinking about that, and probably at any time.\u00a0 It\u2019s a matter of getting over there, after that, shouldn\u2019t be much of a problem,\u201d Ahmed said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll get you back onto a base and headed back over there.\u00a0 There is a base over there, small, but should work,\u2019 Joseph said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey built a base over there?\u201d Ahmed asked, a bit surprised.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, its only been operational for a couple of years, but we figured we needed one there,\u201d Jack said.\u00a0 \u201cCome on, let\u2019s get something to eat, then I\u2019m going to bed, almost my bedtime.\u201d<\/p>\n
