Neither side appeared to have an advantage over the other. Both sides were scrounging for resources to build their war machines.<\/p>\n \u201cBaltar, anything new to report,\u201d Adar asked.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, nothing yet,\u201d Baltar said. He\u2019d have to meet with his \u2018spies\u2019 to see what could help.<\/p>\n \u201cIt appears Commander Cain is pushing again,\u201d Adar said. \u201cHe seems to think that we can march straight into Cylon space and defeat them.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cCain is a fool,\u201d Baltar said.<\/p>\n \u201cWatch what you say Baltar, you may think that but the people don\u2019t think so. It was his military genius that kept you alive in the last battle,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n \u201cIf we hadn\u2019t listened to him in the first place we wouldn\u2019t have been there to begin with,\u201d Baltar said.<\/p>\n \u201cBut we did destroy a Cylon\u00a0basestar\u00a0without losing a battlestar in return,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n \u201cGentlemen, we have a situation\u00a0that we still need to discuss,\u201d Adar said. \u201cThe Delphians\u00a0have asked for our help in their fight against the Cylons.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe cannot risk any of our ships to help them out,\u201d another council member said.<\/p>\n \u201cBut helping them will allow us to split the Cylon\u2019s attention and perhaps give us that advantage we\u2019ve needed for so long,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat do you say Baltar, I trust your judgment,\u201d Adar said looking over at him.<\/p>\n Baltar sat back in the chair thinking about that for several seconds. \u201cI think it might work,\u201d he finally said. \u201cPerhaps we should send Commander Cain, he\u2019d have more control, and the ability to act freely for a change.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHmm, yes, that might work,\u201d Adar said. \u201cSend the Pegasus with the Fifth Fleet, it should work.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAre you sure that\u2019s wise,\u201d Adama said. \u201cThe people might not like that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe won\u2019t be telling them where Cain is going, only that he\u2019s going on an important mission,\u201d Adar said.<\/p>\n \u201cI say we put it to a vote,\u201d another member said.<\/p>\n \u201cAgreed,\u201d Adar replied. \u201cAll in favor\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n Cain walked onto the bridge of the Pegasus having been summoned by Talon. Everyone on the bridge he knew would do their job, he\u2019d trained them to do their job the way he wanted.<\/p>\n \u201cCommander, message from the council,\u201d Talon said.<\/p>\n \u201cNow what to those daggits\u00a0want,\u201d Cain muttered under his breath. He walked up to the command chair, put a smile on his face and activated the communicator not surprised when Adar\u2019s face appeared on the screen. He noticed Baltar standing behind the president.<\/p>\n \u201cCommander Cain, we\u2019ve been asked for help by the Delphians and the council has decided to send the Fifth Fleet to help them out,\u201d Adar said.<\/p>\n \u201cUnder who\u2019s command,\u201d Cain asked already knowing the answer.<\/p>\n \u201cYou would have full control of the fleet,\u201d Adar said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd the Delphians?\u201d Cain asked. He like the idea of having full control, but being so far away from the Colonies wasn\u2019t something he liked.<\/p>\n \u201cThey will understand that you\u2019re there to help them,\u201d Adar said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd if I refuse,\u201d Cain said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou cannot, it\u2019s already been decided,\u201d Baltar replied for the president.<\/p>\n \u201cYou are not the president,\u201d Cain said to him.<\/p>\n \u201cCain, Baltar, at ease,\u201d Adar said. \u201cNow Cain this has already been approved by the council. I\u2019d hate to have to relieve you of command over this. The council feels that you\u2019re the best commander for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cFine,\u201d Cain said. \u201cWhen do I leave?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMake your preparations and let us know when the fleet is ready,\u201d Adar said.<\/p>\n \u201cVery well,\u201d Cain said as the line went dead. \u201cWell Talon, we\u2019ve got work to do.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYes sir,\u201d the blonde haired colonel said.<\/p>\n *****<\/p>\n Baltar\u00a0walked into his office sitting down. It\u2019d been done and now his biggest problem was about to be\u00a0solved. Locking the door he pulled out a small communicator from the desk drawer.
