Meia sat down at the restaurant next to Randy. A lot had happened in the past couple of days since the defeat of the Cimalian fleet.<\/p>\n

The Alliance had sent a patrol ship to Cimalius but found it abandoned. That hadn\u2019t surprised Meia at all considering the nature of the Cimalian leadership. The landing parties found nothing of any use that might help them figure out where they had gone. The President had ordered a team to Cimalius to see if they could find out.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow are you handling everything,\u201d Mary asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs well as can be expected,\u201d Meia replied. \u201cIt\u2019s still a lot to get used to.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow is the government doing,\u201d Randy asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President has ordered new elections and an investigation of the Constrict party,\u201d Amy said from her side of the table. \u201cFather is working hard to create a new party, I think he\u2019s going to call it Independent, after how I act.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth is finally getting out and the people are furious,\u201d Jack said.<\/p>\n

Meia understood that. The people had been lied to by the group they had entrusted to protect them.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the plus side the military has received a bonus and money to construct a new class of battle-cruisers,\u201d Jack said continuing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe threat of the Cimalians isn\u2019t over,\u201d Meia said. \u201cAs long as the leaders remain the Cimalians will remain a threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have scouts ships working and looking at nearby systems closely and investigating any ship that mysteriously disappears,\u201d Randy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe still have one important weapon,\u201d Meia said to the group. \u201cMe, I am the highest ranking official of the Cimalian government.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government system never made any sense to me,\u201d Amy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike a monarchy, oldest child is rightful ruler,\u201d Meia said. \u201cThe family tries to remain small to keep power consolidated in a small group of people. Usually one or two sons or daughters. Usually the younger siblings don\u2019t have families\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Meia stopped at that thought. Now everything made sense. That was why she had been kept alive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong?\u201d Randy asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ll be back, after me,\u201d Meia said. \u201cOnly I can reproduce a new heir, of course it makes sense now!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t follow,\u201d Jack said confused.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout two hundred years ago the younger son of the Emperor Charles II, Wylan killed his older brother, Eric for the throne. When Tylin, Eric\u2019s daughter overthrew Wylan she made a law that the younger siblings be made unable to produce heirs. Emperor Henry was keeping me alive to produce a heir,\u201d Meia said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat means they\u2019ll be after you still,\u201d Randy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen the fight isn\u2019t over,\u201d Jack said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoesn\u2019t look that way, but next time, we\u2019ll know,\u201d Amy said.<\/p>\n

Meia nodded her head with the knowledge that things had just started.<\/p>\n
