Part 14<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Zoe relaxed a bit by the pool. As it felt nice to just sit and do nothing for a change.\u00a0 Several others were in the pool having fun and the day was surprising warm though she could see some clouds on the horizon which meant a storm later on in the day.<\/p>\n

The past couple of days had been a bit tense with everyone expecting something.\u00a0 Zoe wasn\u2019t sure what might happen if anything.\u00a0 She frowned upon seeing her sun blocked and looked up to see Leah standing there.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust going to do nothing today?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, thought about it, or at least this morning,\u201d Zoe replied, then looking at the distance.\u00a0 \u201cBesides, looks like a storm is approaching.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMeans work beforehand,\u201d Leah replied, as Zoe looked up at the short dress Leah wore, showing off a vast amount of leg and from her vantage point, under the dress.\u00a0 If Leah moved a bit she could tell what she was wearing underneath, if anything.<\/p>\n

Zoe continued to look up hoping for a peek before the view shifted slightly and Leah crouched down a bit and looking into her eyes they both knew what she was doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cInsatiable,\u201d Leah said shaking her head.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith you, why not,\u201d Zoe replied, and would have said more if it wasn\u2019t for the sudden commotion coming from the front of the Suite.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy Talos, what is going on out there,\u201d Leah said, moving off and heading to the front.<\/p>\n

Zoe took a second before moving around to the front as well unsure what she might find in front waiting for her.\u00a0 Walking around the building she heard raised voices, but couldn\u2019t make what was said.\u00a0 Finally turning the corner she noticed Elise standing in front with Farquar and now Leah against a group of Thalmor.\u00a0 Zoe sighed seeing Valis leading a group of Thalmor.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we have the right to look inside,\u201d Valis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the right to refuse service to whoever we see fit to refuse, and that includes you,\u201d Elise said.<\/p>\n

She watched as Elise and Valis stood off and noticed a few Whiterun guards approaching along with several others, including Farkas and Vilkas from the companions.\u00a0 While not the brightest they were more than capable in a fight and loyal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s going on here?\u201d a guard asked, walking up to the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of your concern guard,\u201d Valis said dismissively spotting Zoe.\u00a0 \u201cI have found what I was after.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cValis,\u201d Zoe said, walking towards the elf allowing her disgust at him show no longer having to play nice.\u00a0 She noticed he had with him a dozen or so guards as she evaluated their postures.\u00a0 They were warriors, but now outnumbered as a few more came out from the Suite.\u00a0 \u201cWhy are you here, we have nothing left to discuss.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, but I\u2019m afraid that there is,\u201d Valis said with a smile.\u00a0 \u201cYou see, when you left you assaulted me, so I\u2019m arresting you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore or after I have you arrested for burning down my shack,\u201d Zoe replied walking right up to him and looking him in the eye.\u00a0 She noticed the slight hesitation.\u00a0 \u201cAnd not to mention adding in an attempted attack as I left Solitude.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you insinuating I had something to do with it?\u201d Valis asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes we are,\u201d Leah said speaking up.\u00a0 \u201cWe were attacked by several thugs upon leaving, and you gave them the information to attack us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThose are serious crimes,\u201d the guard said, looking at Valis.\u00a0 \u201cI don\u2019t care if you\u2019re Thalmor or not, we don\u2019t look kindly to such things around here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Valis looked stunned, as if his carefully constructed plan hadn\u2019t quite gone his way.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, well, assaulting a Thalmor is a great crime,\u201d Valis said finally as if regaining his courage.\u00a0 She noticed a few guards seemed to hesitate with new information.\u00a0 They had probably been told how easy this would be, and Valis probably believed that as well as he refused to accept the truth of the situation.<\/p>\n

Zoe turned her back on Valis and took a few steps away, more to keep from slugging him than anything else.\u00a0 After calming herself a bit she turned back to him.\u00a0 She wanted any move made done by him so she could claim self-defense this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you are accusing a Thane of Skyrim, Harbinger of the Companions, Arch-mage of the College of Winterhold, and Dragonborn of such an action,\u201d Zoe said before looking back at him, waiting for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, yes, but still, my accusations carry great weight,\u201d Valis said, but was met not from Zoe, but Elise as she spat at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe great Thalmor, more like over-bloated egos,\u201d she said to him.\u00a0 \u201cYou disgust me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zoe saw it happen.\u00a0 Valis\u2019 rage crashed over him as he drew his sword and moved forward to attack Elise.\u00a0 He was immediately challenged by a half dozen others and in seconds almost everyone had their swords drawn.\u00a0 She realized bloodshed would happen if nothing changed.<\/p>\n

Zun Haal Viik<\/em><\/p>\n

The shout had the desired effect as she watched the weapons fly from the Thalmor\u2019s hands.\u00a0 She felt slightly relieved, hoping the situation had de-escalated a bit.\u00a0 Those thoughts vanished rather quickly watching Valis reach into his robes.\u00a0 She understood what he was going for before he even pulled the knife out.\u00a0 The differences in their experience now was evident as even unarmed she was more dangerous.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t be stupid Valis,\u201d Zoe said to him.\u00a0 But she already knew from his actions he had no intention of stopping as he charged her.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I can\u2019t have you no one can,\u201d he yelled in rage.<\/p>\n

Even as Zoe prepared herself another voice shouted at him to stop.\u00a0 Zoe didn\u2019t break concentration knowing she didn\u2019t have any armor on.\u00a0 In a strange way she knew it would come down to this from the moment she spotted him in Solitude.<\/p>\n

He attacked showing his lack of training and experience that she now had.\u00a0 Easily dodging the blow as he seemed to stumble a bit.\u00a0 Zoe could tell he wouldn\u2019t give up this time, his eyes wild and crazy as if he finally snapped.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou will be mine!\u201d he shouted at her, even as two Thalmor rushed in to restrain him.\u00a0 He managed to escape and rushed her one more time.<\/p>\n

She dodged and struck him on the back of the head watching as he fell forward knocked out.\u00a0 Zoe took this opportunity to look around spotting Elewen walking towards them in a hurry.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see I wasn\u2019t in time,\u201d she said walking up to them all.<\/p>\n

\u201cWasn\u2019t in time for what?\u201d Zoe asked, confused as to why she would be there.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo stop him,\u201d Elewen stated as the guard turned Valis over.<\/p>\n

To everyone\u2019s surprise he was dead, his knife embedded in his chest as he fell.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see that complicates things,\u201d Elewen said looking on.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot for me, he attacked me with a deadly weapon, even escaped your guards from restraining him,\u201d Zoe said knowing if she had a blade he would have died anyways.\u00a0 \u201cIt seems the prophesy came true.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cProphesy?\u201d Elewen asked, surprised by the statement Zoe made.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew him back in the Imperial City, and before leaving a seer gave us both a prophesy.\u00a0 His was not to go north where he would die,\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cI always assumed it would be a bandit party.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStill, the death of a high ranking Thalmor will not go unnoticed,\u201d Elewen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThalmor or not, attacking another citizen is a crime,\u201d the guard said speaking up.<\/p>\n

Zoe realized the situation was complex now but it was Elise who spoke up.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are you doing here?\u201d she asked Elewen who seemed taken aback by the question and hostile tone by another elf.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was trying to prevent him from making this complex,\u201d Elewen said, looking at the body of Valis.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe always was headstrong,\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cBut what do you mean complex?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt appears his fixation upon you was unnatural even for a Thalmor,\u201d Elewen replied.\u00a0 \u201cHe was in such a hurry to leave he left some personal artifacts behind, including a diary.\u201d<\/p>\n

That got Zoe\u2019s attention wondering what he had written knowing that whatever it was had sent Elewen all this way to try and stop him.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, what will you do?\u201d Zoe asked, moving forward to Elewen who seemed to look down at the body as everyone waited to hear what might happen next, even the Thalmor guards.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will cause an uproar among the higher ups,\u201d Elewen said, pausing a bit.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnough to make them do anything?\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cHe was obsessed unnaturally.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, its why I am hesitant in any action,\u201d Elewen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy should it be, she killed a Thalmor,\u201d one of the guards who was escorting Valis said finally speaking up.\u00a0 \u201cShe killed him, it\u2019s a clear cut case in the law and she should be punished.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zoe took a breath to defend herself but Elewen spoke up first.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf that was all that was at stake here,\u201d Elewen said.\u00a0 \u201cNo wonder you\u2019re only a guard, unable to think beyond a simple matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was the Thalmor arrogance Zoe was used to coming from Elewen even as she continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will report it in, you will not do anything to discredit my testimony,\u201d Elewen said to him.\u00a0 \u201cIf they wish to escalate the problem it would be highly problematic for us and could cause an all-out war in Skyrim, something neither side wishes to have.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe killed him, I have no problem with it,\u201d the guard said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we will,\u201d another voice said, and they turned to see Balgruuf standing there.\u00a0 \u201cThe Dragonborn has been most helpful to us all, many would fight on her side, especially with the knowledge of this Thalmor\u2019s obsession.\u00a0 Distrust is already high among the people of Skyrim and the Thalmor, you wish to make things worse?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo we don\u2019t,\u201d Elewen said cutting across anything the guard was about to say as they glared at each other for a few seconds.\u00a0 \u201cI shall be heading to Imperial City myself to make sure things do not escalate, sorry for bothering you Dragonborn.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that she turned and motioned for the rest of the Thalmor guards to follow.\u00a0 The one guard looked back at her before motioning for a few others to collect the body and left as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, that was interesting,\u201d Zoe stated looking around.\u00a0 It was very different compared to when she was younger and dealing with the Thalmor.\u00a0 She was all alone, now she had many allies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings always are with you,\u201d Balgruuf replied back to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was resting by the pool,\u201d Zoe replied back, indicating her outfit which backed up that statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact neither he nor his guards understood you\u2019re more dangerous in that than they were in armor shows they are not warriors,\u201d Valkis said from where he stood.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never had a doubt of the outcome if they fought,\u201d Farkas stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cLots of experience,\u201d Zoe stated before looking back at Balgruuf.\u00a0 \u201cWhat happens next?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll send runners to the other holds, but I doubt we\u2019ll have any problems,\u201d Balgruuf said, giving Zoe a nod of his head before heading back to the city along with several other guards.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s go back inside,\u201d Leah suggested as they headed back inside the Suite.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, wasn\u2019t expecting that,\u201d OMB said as they entered and people were busily talking about what happened.\u00a0 Zoe ignored them as she walked along with Leah towards a table.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou think that\u2019ll be it?\u201d Leah asked, as she and Zoe sat down along with Wyla who had joined them.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully,\u201d Zoe replied.\u00a0 \u201cIf we trust Elewen it will be, but I doubt I\u2019ll be welcome in the Imperial City anytime soon.\u00a0 Of course I don\u2019t plan on leaving Skyrim anytime soon.\u00a0 Guess we just wait and see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI really thought Elise was about to strangle that elf though,\u201d Wyla said.\u00a0 \u201cShe was keeping herself in check.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cProbably a good thing, they might have hauled her off if she had done anything,\u201d Zoe said part of her wondering the history was between her and the Thalmor.\u00a0 Whatever had happened was enough for Elise to have to restrain herself from actually attacking a Thalmor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThink we\u2019ll hear anything?\u201d Leah asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no idea,\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cBut I can think of a lot of other things I\u2019d rather focus on instead.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that Zoe looked at Leah who merely shook her head.<\/p>\n
