Part 13<\/span><\/h2>\n

Zoe and Leah headed away from Solitude, on the way back to the Suite and home.\u00a0 The past couple of days had been interesting to say the least.\u00a0 The Thalmor were typical, always trying to impose their views on everyone else due to some superior moral values on everyone else.<\/p>\n

She felt glad to be leaving all this politics behind her, especially Valis.\u00a0 If she never saw him again it would be too soon.\u00a0 However part of her knew she hadn\u2019t seen the last of him.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t seem able to let go of something.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou didn\u2019t hurt anyone, I\u2019m impressed,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got restraint if I need it,\u201d Zoe replied back to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, glad I wasn\u2019t there,\u201d Leah said, having spent the time back at the house learning some new recipes she hoped to introduce to the Suite.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, those thugs did allow me to blow off some steam,\u201d Zoe said, recalling the night where they had some visitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cStupid thugs if you ask me,\u201d Leah replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat they were,\u201d Zoe agreed.\u00a0 \u201cThey must not have known who they were facing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMakes them even dumber,\u201d she said, before stopping and looking at the trail.\u00a0 Standing before them was a figure who appeared waiting for her and it took Zoe a few moments to recognize who it was.\u00a0 \u201cGuess they are dumber than I thought.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah,\u201d Zoe agreed, as they continued on stopping in front of the man.\u00a0 Zoe recognized the man from the leader of the thugs who were trying to get more money out of Brandis.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow little girl, you\u2019re on my turf,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally,\u201d Zoe said, looking around.\u00a0 \u201cActually, I\u2019d say you\u2019re on mine now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, a cocky one,\u201d the man stated with an air of confidence.\u00a0 \u201cYou think I\u2019m alone?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNope, I\u2019d be surprised if you were,\u201d Zoe replied, using the shout to detect life and spotting the entire group.\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019ve got two in front of and two behind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s right, you\u2019re surrounded,\u201d the thug leader said, smiling at her.\u00a0 \u201cYou see, you don\u2019t know who you\u2019re messing with.\u00a0 I\u2019m taking over and nothing you can do to stop me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zoe looked over at Leah, who merely nodded indicating she was ready for the fight.\u00a0 Both were dressed in armor which the leader didn\u2019t seem to notice, or was blind to.\u00a0 Either way she easily drew her swords.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing?\u201d Zoe stated calmly, taking a step forward.\u00a0 She\u2019d take care of the ones in front while Leah would deal with those behind them.\u00a0 \u201cAre you sure about that?\u00a0 If I was you I\u2019d be walking away.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why you\u2019re not me,\u201d the leader said.\u00a0 \u201cOh, you surprised me, but I was given some information about you, you\u2019re not that strong.\u201d<\/p>\n

That bit caused Zoe to wonder what he had heard and from who.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you heard correctly you\u2019d know more,\u201d Zoe said, getting bored with the conversation now as she stepped forward readying herself for the upcoming battle.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy source knew you very well,\u201d the man replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds more like he didn\u2019t know me at all,\u201d Zoe replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cSure this isn\u2019t insane?\u201d Leah said, having move back.<\/p>\n

By now the others stepped out into the open, probably hoping to intimidate her or something.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this we should be able to easily overwhelm you,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat, four men and you?\u201d Zoe replied wondering what type of terrible information he got, or had he been purposefully misled?\u00a0 \u201cIf that\u2019s all you have, then you were either lied to, or the information was false.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI doubt it, talk, that\u2019s all you are,\u201d the leader sad.\u00a0 \u201cTake them!\u201d<\/p>\n

Zoe moved quickly, using a disarming shout which stunned the two attackers before using quick slashes at the weak part of their armor.\u00a0 The first man fell as he turned to the second one, quickly dispatching him before turning to see how Leah was doing.\u00a0 She had dispatched one and now was using fire on the second.<\/p>\n

Zoe turned her attention back to the leader who seemed stunned at how quickly they had taken out his men.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you said, you\u2019re new here,\u201d Zoe said, now close enough to attack.\u00a0 \u201cBut, who gave you this \u2018information\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

She watched him falter for a second even as Leah walked up beside her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou got bad info, why protect him?\u201d Zoe asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got power behind him, said you\u2019d be easy to intimidate,\u201d the thug said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds like whoever this is doesn\u2019t know you at all love,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOr thought he did,\u201d Zoe said, as an idea of who formed in her mind.\u00a0 She watched as fell back stepping.\u00a0 Zoe walked up to him and bent down.\u00a0 \u201cLet me guess, an elf?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI, well, he said if I ever spoke of who I\u2019d be a dead man,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeems to me you\u2019re already at my mercy,\u201d Zoe said realizing who it probably was, and sounded like something he\u2019d say.<\/p>\n

\u201cBetter tell her, she doesn\u2019t have much patience,\u201d Leah said earning a look from Zoe.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s true.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, but let me guess, this elf was a Thalmor, wasn\u2019t he,\u201d Zoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t think?\u201d Leah asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I do,\u201d Zoe said, \u201cit\u2019s just like him to have others do his work.\u201d<\/p>\n

She watched as the thug\u2019s eyes darted back and forth between her and Leah, exactly where she wanted him.<\/p>\n

\u201cTell me,\u201d Zoe said, raising one sword watching him squirm.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, but he never said his name, only that he was a Thalmor,\u201d the thug said.\u00a0 \u201cSaid he knew you from some time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cValis,\u201d Zoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t know, all those elves look alike to me,\u201d the thug said.\u00a0 \u201cOnly said he had several plans to get to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

That sent chills down Zoe\u2019s spine.<\/p>\n

\u201cGet out of here, and don\u2019t let me hear of you bothering Jordis or Brandis,\u201d Zoe said to him, sheathing her swords and watching as he scrambled to his feet.\u00a0 She turned to Leah as he went running off to the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cProblems?\u201d Leah asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cValis burned down my shack, he might make a move against the Suite,\u201d Zoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we should hurry,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

Zoe already knew of a way back quickly, but rarely used it.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, give me your hand,\u201d Zoe said to her watching as she frowned but took her hand.<\/p>\n

Zoe concentrated on the spell and within seconds they vanished off the road and appeared in a certain room under the Suite and standing before the Bride of Migul.<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome Dovahkin,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHello Bride of Migul,\u201d Zoe said to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere?\u00a0 This is the secret room,\u201d Leah said.\u00a0 \u201cWhat did you do?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA spell which will transport me here,\u201d Zoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how you\u2019d suddenly appear when we weren\u2019t expecting you back for a few more days,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah,\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cCome on, we might have a problem headed our way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cValis,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight, last thing I want is something happening to the Suite,\u201d Zoe said as they headed out and made their way through the forging area and then upstairs where a few of the others looked at them strangely.<\/p>\n

\u201cZoe?\u00a0 Leah, we weren\u2019t expecting you back for another couple of days,\u201d Trude said, who was working the bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, took a shortcut,\u201d Zoe said making her way to a chair.\u00a0 \u201cBut I need to talk to you all, including Farquar and OMB.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, did something happen while you were there?\u201d Trude asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot what you think,\u201d Leah said.\u00a0 \u201cBut we might have some problems with a Thalmor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThalmor?\u00a0 Those self-righteous hypocrites?\u201d Elise said, a dark elf who worked at the Suite.<\/p>\n

\u201cGather every around and I\u2019ll explain it all,\u201d Zoe said to them all.\u00a0 She watched as they gathered around for the \u2018meeting\u2019 as Farquar walked in as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds a bit serious,\u201d Rayna said, more to Leah<\/p>\n

\u201cEh, more to do with one person who has a problem with Zoe,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, another enemy?\u201d Rashaal asked.<\/p>\n

Zoe waited until they were all there before saying anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis Thalmor\u2019s name is Valis,\u201d Zoe said to them.\u00a0 \u201cHe has, well, an obsession for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo do many others,\u201d Trudy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis goes beyond that,\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cWhen I lived in the Imperial city, I had a small shack outside the walls, not much but it was home to me.\u00a0 Well, one day he hatched up a plan to make me his and sent a group of thugs to burn down my house.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy didn\u2019t you fight?\u201d Rayne asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that time, I wasn\u2019t much of a fighter, I\u2019d have been defeated back then,\u201d Zoe said not able to fathom such a thing now.\u00a0 \u201cI don\u2019t have hard proof he actually did it, but it was two thugs and one Thalmor.\u00a0 They seemed to acting on someone else\u2019s orders within the Thalmor, and as only Valis fit it makes logical sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, what\u2019s that got to do with this?\u201d Farquar asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile in Solitude I had another encounter with him, he\u2019s here in Skyrim and knows I\u2019m here as well,\u201d Zoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, you\u2019re afraid he\u2019ll try something against the Suite?\u201d OMB asked from where he stood.<\/p>\n

\u201cExactly,\u201d Zoe replied.\u00a0 \u201cHe\u2019s even more mentally unstable now than back when I last saw him.\u00a0 He\u2019s still obsessive over me for some reason.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds like someone needs to move on,\u201d Elise said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo kidding,\u201d Rayna said.<\/p>\n

Zoe had to agree, it had been almost a year and he was still hung up on her for some reason.\u00a0 He also seemed to think whatever he had was better than what she currently had.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn general Thalmor aren\u2019t allowed in anyways,\u201d Elise stated.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t a hard rule, but one which they had no problems spreading around.<\/p>\n

Zoe knew that they would be on the look-out for any problems.\u00a0 This wasn\u2019t like last time, she would defend her home and now had the skills and abilities to do that. \u00a0Add in the fact everyone here would also defend the Suite along with certain clientele like the Companions.<\/p>\n

Any attack by Valis against the Suite would have resistance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey do have a superiority complex,\u201d Leah said.\u00a0 \u201cAnd telling those lies to the thugs about us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Every looked at Zoe and Leah.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeaving we were ambushed by some thugs who were after a guy in Solitude who I helped.\u00a0 Valis told him some information he probably still believes and they acted on it,\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cWasn\u2019t anything we couldn\u2019t handle.\u00a0 But Valis seems to think he still knows me so I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if he tries something against the Suite.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, we\u2019re busy pretty much all day long,\u201d Trudy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he\u2019d piss off a lot of patrons all around,\u201d OMB said.\u00a0 \u201cSince you\u2019ve taken ownership word of the Suite has spread all across Skyrim, even have travelers from south staying here as they do business here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t be an easy place to attack,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be sure to keep an extra eye out,\u201d Farquar said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast time he did something like this he used a couple of hired thugs,\u201d Zoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThugs, no problem for us,\u201d Rayna stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we\u2019ll all keep an eye out for anyone suspicious,\u201d Trudy said.<\/p>\n

Zoe realized they all would fight for the Suite, it was their home as well.\u00a0 Something Valis probably didn\u2019t even bother considering with whatever plan he was scheming.\u00a0 She only hoped that he wasn\u2019t as stupid as she thought he was.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he does try something, we\u2019ll be ready,\u201d Leah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay, back to work then,\u201d Trudy said, as almost everyone stood back up and walked back to where they had been except for Leah and Elise.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou really think this elf will try something?\u201d Elise asked, something Zoe really had given thought to.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did try to have me attacked leaving Solitude,\u201d Zoe said.\u00a0 \u201cAnd from his past actions he\u2019s stubborn, I\u2019d say if I was wagering a fifty-fifty chance.\u00a0 The real question is if he does do something, will it be him or someone else?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds like he\u2019s not giving elves a good name,\u201d Elise said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a Thalmor,\u201d Leah replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor now we wait,\u201d Zoe said, privately hoping he didn\u2019t do anything.<\/p>\n
