Dovahkin’s Flight<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Disclaimer: This is a fanfiction based upon the game Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and also is based upon the mod ‘Bathing Beauties Luxury Suite” by Migal130.<\/p>\n

Part 1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome,\u201d the large creature said, speaking in a strange guttural voice.\u00a0 It was massive, dwarfing her.\u00a0 \u201cYou fear me Laat Dovahkiin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zoe blinked at the name, so unfamiliar it sounded like gibberish to her.\u00a0 In her fear riddled mind she had trouble even forming a coherent thought with such a creature in front of her.\u00a0 She did manage to step back, almost stumbling over a rock behind her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see, you are weak,\u201d it stated, its massive head lowering down to look at her, a large eye peering at her.\u00a0 \u201cI can see into your soul Dovahkin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fear washed over her as she looked on not sure what she was seeing.\u00a0 Who wouldn\u2019t be afraid of what she was facing.\u00a0 Anyone with a working brain would be afraid.\u00a0 Instead the massive creature rocked back slightly giving her a better look.\u00a0 It was still massive, and reminded her of a dragon.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes Dovahkin, I am a dragon,\u201d it replied back to her.<\/p>\n

Glancing around looking for some place to hide she noticed the rocky terrain, and nothing to help her out before looking back up at the dragon who merely shook his head in disappointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are the Dovahkin, then I fear for the future,\u201d it replied back to her.<\/p>\n

With that it spread it massive wings and in a sudden burst lifted off.<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps we\u2019ll see each other again, and then you\u2019ll be stronger,\u201d it bellowed before leaving.<\/p>\n

Zoe sat up in her bed, heart beating as she vaguely recalled the strange dream.\u00a0 She stretched looking around her small shack.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t much but it was her despite her not having much of anything.\u00a0 She had a roof over her head, a bed, table and chairs which was more than the poor in Imperial city had.\u00a0 The only real problem was food was scarce at the moment considering the harvest hadn\u2019t been good.\u00a0 She wasn\u2019t much of a farmer she realized far too late.<\/p>\n

Her shack wasn\u2019t in the best part of the empire, but close to the Imperial City and was able to be far enough away to miss out on the politics of the Thalmor now running Cyrodiil.\u00a0 She heard rumors of how things had been when the Thalmor conquered the city and felt glad she wasn\u2019t closer.<\/p>\n

Now, she gathered what coins she had making her way into the city.\u00a0 She stood taller than others, being a Nord and with blonde hair.\u00a0 There were some Nords around, but mostly Imperials and elves at the Imperial City.\u00a0 Looking at the impressive walls she wondered how the Thalmor managed to invade and couldn\u2019t imagine the battle.<\/p>\n

Entering the city she passed by a few people she knew, a few guards who merely looked her way.\u00a0 She had more than one encounter with some guards but still managed to be on their good side.<\/p>\n

Moving though the city she wondered about the arena.\u00a0 She might be able to gain some gold there today.\u00a0 It was a risk and one she decided was worthy to take.\u00a0 Turning away from the bars she headed towards the arena and what she hoped was a good payday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, Zoe, nice to see you today,\u201d the bookie, Tegan, said to her as she approached the building.\u00a0 \u201cWe have several good fights today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, who\u2019s fighting?\u201d Zoe asked, wondering who she might wish to wager on.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral new people against each other, testing them out to see if they are worthy of climbing the ranks,\u201d Tegan replied, still looking as if he was ready to bust with information.\u00a0 \u201cBut the last fight, the grand-champion is fighting, Black-Eye against Jorius the Brave.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zoe nodded knowing they were both good fighters and went over what she knew about them.\u00a0 She had seen them both fight and realized Black-Eye was the stronger one.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, how much for that last bet?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cTen gold coins minimum,\u201d he replied back to her.<\/p>\n

Zoe weighted the price knowing if she won it would be worth it.\u00a0 However, if she lost she would almost be wiped out.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t gain anything by playing it safe though and nodded.<\/p>\n

\u201cTen on Black-Eye then,\u201d she stated with confidence, which she actually didn\u2019t feel.\u00a0 This was a big gamble for her even as he took her money and handed her back a slip to redeem if she won.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood luck,\u201d Tegan said as she made her way inside to watch the next new fighters.\u00a0 Perhaps she could find someone to bet on in the future.<\/p>\n

Making her way into the spectator seats she noticed a few regulars who waved at her as she waved back at them.\u00a0 She\u2019d been here enough to know some of them, not well but acquaintances.\u00a0 Not enough to trust them with anything, but to pass time while watching the fights.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see you\u2019re out Zoe,\u201d a voice said causing her to look over to see a High Elf nearby.<\/p>\n

\u201cValis,\u201d Zoe replied back to the elf, an arrogant person and part of the Thalmor.\u00a0 He thought the Thalmor ruled everything and were supreme.\u00a0 \u201cI see you\u2019re still ugly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d be careful, a pretty young thing like you,\u201d Valis replied back.\u00a0 \u201cThere are plenty of dangers lurking in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, including you,\u201d Zoe muttered back, heading for a seat far away from him to watch the fights hoping he wouldn\u2019t follow.\u00a0 He could ruin a day just by looking at a person in her opinion.\u00a0 But he was part of the Thalmor and had ambition to go even higher.<\/p>\n

For some reason he was obsessed with her which seemed unusual for an elf of his rank to even be interested in a human.\u00a0 She knew him to be a bit creepy and obsessive.<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t follow but settled in with a few other Thalmor demanding attention of the servers.\u00a0 Zoe knew it would be a while before they got around to her for a drink which was fine with her.<\/p>\n

She went over the fighters, none of which she really knew.\u00a0 She finally got a drink, knowing her coins were running out and she\u2018d need some new income soon.<\/p>\n

Passing some time she watched the fights, using her observations to evaluate the new fighters.\u00a0 Some were actually good in her opinion, and she conversed with a few others who joined her to watch on their opinions.<\/p>\n

Much to her relief Valis hadn\u2019t made any more moves towards where she sat meaning she could enjoy the matches in peace.\u00a0 But looking over there was something about how he acted which disturbed her.\u00a0 Putting it out of her mind she settled down to watch the featured match, Black-Eye and Jorius.<\/p>\n

Black-Eye entered wearing the champion armor and part of Zoe wondered what it might be like to have such armor.\u00a0 Taking a moment to imagine herself in such armor and having the pride and prestige which would go with it, something she would never have. \u00a0She had some tell her she had potential with a blade but never considered herself that good.<\/p>\n

Focusing back on the fight which had now started she noticed something strange with the movements of Black-Eye.\u00a0 He seemed sluggish, as if he wasn\u2019t feeling right.\u00a0 He should have been the more dangerous of the two but this fight seemed very different.\u00a0 Did something happen to Black-Eye?<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on Jorius, today\u2019s your day!\u201d she heard Valis shout.<\/p>\n

She heard others shouting encouragement and support for Black-Eye but as the match continued she noticed Jorius taking over.<\/p>\n

A bad feeling washed over her the longer the fight lasted.\u00a0 Black-Eye seemed less able to keep up with Jorius.\u00a0 The swings from the champion much more clumsy and unwieldy than even before the match started.\u00a0 It made her wonder what had happened in the short time since the battle started.<\/p>\n

Then, something she expected and hoped not to happen, Jordius struck the winning blow and the match was over.\u00a0 She lost her bet and had no almost no money.\u00a0 She took the risk and lost, sure others would call her stupid for even trying it but she knew what could happen.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t feel sorry, only a sense of what to do now.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou dirty bastard, you Thalmor filth,\u201d a voice said causing everyone to look.\u00a0 A male Nord stood pointing at Valis.\u00a0 \u201cYou rigged that last match, didn\u2019t you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Even from where she sat she knew the Nord was drunk as he rushed Valis.\u00a0 The elf easily sidestepped the rush before countering with an ice spell knocking the man out.\u00a0 Valis calmly walked over to the now prone man.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re lucky Nord I\u2019m in a good mood, I\u2019ll let you live,\u201d Valis said to him despite the fact he was out cold.\u00a0 Valis then looked over at Zoe and smiled.\u00a0 \u201cThe offer still stands.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that he laughed before making his way out of the spectator\u2019s seats making Zoe wonder if he had rigged the match.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t appear at all surprised or even insulted by the accusation the Nord had made.\u00a0 A couple of the Nord\u2019s friends picked him up and carried him out leaving her with only a few others.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, it makes sense,\u201d another person said, an Orc.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve never seen Black-Eye fight so badly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI know, but do you want to make that accusation?\u201d an Imperial said.<\/p>\n

Zoe knew them both but not their names, only in passing at the arena.\u00a0 She stopped to listen in.<\/p>\n

\u201cJorius is good, but not that good,\u201d the Orc said.\u00a0 \u201cUnless, they all knew something was wrong with Black-Eye.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou saying they knew, tossed him out there to lose?\u201d the Imperial said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy not, they know something\u2019s wrong, hype it up, people bet on the champion and he loses, they net a large profit,\u201d the Orc said.<\/p>\n

Zoe shook her head.\u00a0 It made a bit of sense to her.\u00a0 They had informed her when she was betting.\u00a0 Nothing but new fighters and then this match.\u00a0 Perhaps the Orc was right, this wasn\u2019t Valis\u2019 fault, but the fact he bet on Jorius meant he probably knew about it.<\/p>\n

Making her way outside she didn\u2019t bother looking at Tegan, wondering if the two who had been arguing were on to something.\u00a0 A lot of people probably did bet on Black-Eye, he had been champion for a while.\u00a0 Were they right, had he thrown the match, or been injured in some way and not told anyone?\u00a0 If so, then she had been played and now had almost no money.<\/p>\n

She supposed some hunting or fishing might get her some meat to sell, or a hide if nothing else.\u00a0 Her options really were limited as she made her way down the street not paying attention to her surroundings.\u00a0 Unfortunately she bumped into Valis and his friends on the street who were looking at an older woman who eyed him strangely.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy don\u2019t you go and bother someone else you creepy old hag,\u201d Valis said to the woman obviously not wanting to be near her.\u00a0 She was dressed in simple clothes, long white hair braided and hazel eyes which seemed to look right through you.<\/p>\n

The woman didn\u2019t seem to even mind the perceived insult and continued to look at them all before turning towards Zoe and stared intently.\u00a0 She looked at everyone realizing she actually agreed with Valis, the woman was creepy.\u00a0 Of course she\u2019d never actually say that but thought it as the woman approached her.<\/p>\n

\u201cZoe, you change your mind?\u201d Valis asked realizing she was there.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t hold your breath,\u201d Zoe replied back to him, even as the woman now invaded her personal space, peering up at her with aged eyes.\u00a0 Zoe backed away slightly even as the old woman followed before taking her hand.<\/p>\n

\u201cBe wary,\u201d the woman said, her voice crackling from old age.\u00a0 Zoe tried to pull away but the strength of the old woman surprised her.\u00a0 \u201cThe World Eater returns, only the last of the line can stop him.\u00a0 For within you is great potential power, use it wisely.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHer? Ha!\u201d Valis said with a snort as the others around him laughed as well.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t faze the old woman who merely looked back at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cArrogance is to be blind, and the ego fuels that blindness,\u201d the woman said turning away from Zoe and towards them.\u00a0 \u201cBut a warning to you elf, not that it\u2019ll do much good.\u00a0 Do not go north to Skyrim, for there you will die in your ego and arrogance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever old woman, now get out of my sight,\u201d Valis said, shoving the woman away.<\/p>\n

Zoe used his inattention to move away from the group in a direction they were not looking.\u00a0 She had no idea what the old woman meant, was she even a seer?\u00a0 The idea of her having a great power made her recall the dream she had this morning.<\/p>\n

She could only now recall a vague large creature talking to her but what about she could not recall anything else.\u00a0 There was something that the creature wanted something from her.<\/p>\n

Shaking her head she began walking back to home wondering what she might do next considering she was basically out of money.\u00a0 She needed to get some coin fast, but how?<\/p>\n
