Part 17<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Elsa watched her mother take Lynn away before turning back to her father.\u00a0 He seemed to be pondering several things as he rubbed his chin.\u00a0 Elsa sat down and went over upcoming events.\u00a0 Sure, there was the winter festival, but that seemed too far away to be any good.\u00a0 Her father mumbled a few dates and seemed to not be pleased with any of them when one caught Elsa\u2019s eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat about the All Hallow Eve\u2019s dance party I\u2019m always invited to?\u201d Elsa asked seeing her father look up.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve never attended before,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know, but it does gather a lot of attention,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHmm, it might work,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s still a couple of weeks away though, you think you can handle that?\u00a0 It\u2019ll mean not seeing her as much as you\u2019ve been seeing her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsa pouted at that, like a child being denied her favorite toy.\u00a0 Her pout was interrupted by a laugh from her father.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not forbidding it, just be a lot more careful in sneaking out, okay,\u201d he said to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes sir,\u201d she said smiling.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, I think we can get ready by that time, have a bio made up, she can go over it a few times, and on the night of the dance we\u2019ll release the information on the royal website,\u201d he said to her.<\/p>\n

Elsa gave it some thought and realized it was probably the best and agreed.\u00a0 Before realizing she would have to come up with a costume and that it would have to \u2018Star Wars\u2019 themed, an old Earth show from some time ago which still held a lot of interest among its fans.\u00a0 She would have to look up some themes to see what type of costume she would wear.<\/p>\n

It was that moment Lynn and her mother reappeared.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, what did you two come up with?\u201d her mother asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe All Hallow\u2019s Eve dance at the King\u2019s Palace,\u201d her father replied back to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cHmm, interesting choice,\u201d her mother replied.\u00a0 \u201cGive us time to get this one up to speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll let you do that,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

Elsa looked back and forth wondering what they meant.\u00a0 It was easy, just announce it, maybe do a few other things, but no really that much of a complex issue to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor now, I think I better get back to work, I have to go through the upcoming exhibit with Mr. Peters,\u201d Lynn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll guide you back though the hallways,\u201d Elsa said, despite a look from her parents they agreed.<\/p>\n

Walking out of the room it was quiet for a few steps before Elsa\u2019s curiosity got the better of her.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat did my mother want to talk to you about?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, just getting used to some things, things you\u2019re probably used to, like being the center of attention, walking down a red carpet, that type of stuff,\u201d Lynn replied back.<\/p>\n

Elsa stopped to look at her.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you having second thoughts?\u201d she asked, nervous about the answer.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou, no,\u201d Lynn replied quickly making Elsa smile.\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019re world, it does scare me, but I think I can adapt, or go running screaming through the bushes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust not naked,\u201d Elsa replied causing Lynn to laugh.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, about this dance, seems more like a party of who\u2019s who from what I\u2019ve read,\u201d Lynn replied.\u00a0 \u201cAnd you\u2019ve never attended, though Anna does.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is the party goer of the two of us,\u201d Elsa said. \u201cAnd, normally I\u2019ve had other things to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMeans I\u2019ll have to get a costume,\u201d Lynn said.\u00a0 \u201cWhat\u2019s the theme this year?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStar Wars.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReally,\u201d Lynn replied, Elsa saw her eyes light up.\u00a0 \u201cAlways wanted to be a Jedi, or a Sith, but Jedi have the cooler lightsaber colors.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUm, if you say so,\u201d Elsa replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve never seen Star Wars?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have to change that,\u201d Lynn said.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s a classic, though the technology is dated now, and special effect cheesy, its still a great sci-fi universe.\u00a0 Or at least the first three films were, the second three were okay, and the last three, meh.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsa suppressed an urge to giggle at the excitement Lynn showed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we can help you with a costume,\u201d Elsa said.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuess I have to look my best,\u201d Lynn said, as they turned the corner.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou always look good,\u201d Elsa replied.\u00a0 \u201cThis corridor will take you back to the museum.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTill later, text you,\u201d Lynn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that she took off back to work, leaving Elsa looking on before heading back to her own small office to see what else she had going on today.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Lynn relaxed at home, watching the TV and the local news.\u00a0 So far things were actually calm within the Empire and a few other powers were fighting but wasn\u2019t effecting them, at least not yet.<\/p>\n

She had been texting Elsa quite a bit, along with her friends who now were asking for all types of things, and pictures.\u00a0 They had been quiet about things so far and she had been meeting with the queen regularly to practice on how to act, what to expect.<\/p>\n

Surprisingly a new friend had been Kristoff who had helped her out as well, but then again he had gone through all of this as well, and Eugene who had texted her with advise as well.\u00a0 Add in support from both the king and queen it made her feel better, though not seeing Elsa was the only bad part of waiting.<\/p>\n

\u201cRumors are swirling at the palace recently about Princess Elsa, up next after these commercials,\u201d the new anchor said.<\/p>\n

Lynn paused before texting Elsa.<\/p>\n

So, what did you do that the news is talking about you?<\/em><\/p>\n

Sending that off she waited not surprised at the quick reply.<\/p>\n

No idea, been too busy with work to do anything else.\u00a0 Have to keep myself occupied until All Hallow\u2019s Eve.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lynn chuckled as the news came back on and she turned to see what happened now.\u00a0 She had learned over the past few weeks that most of the rumors were false, or had some other truth which the media distorted for some sensationalism that the King\u2019s press secretary would have to deal with.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrincess Elsa, the heir to the empire, is in the middle of vicious rumors of being in a lover\u2019s affair.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lynn coughed at that.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe person in speculation is an older gentleman who they think works for the museum,\u201d the reporter said.\u00a0 \u201cWe don\u2019t know much but its rumored she is involved with a married man.\u00a0 Of course we tried to contact the royal palace to confirm these rumors but so far there has been no reply.\u201d<\/p>\n

Um, you\u2019re having an affair with some married man who works for the museum?<\/em><\/p>\n

Lynn frowned hoping that this bit of news wouldn\u2019t affect her boss, which was probably the person they were speculating about.<\/p>\n

I am?<\/em><\/p>\n

Heard it on the news, it must be true.\u00a0 Said they tried to contact the royal palace for conformation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lynn watched a bit more as the reporters went live to the palace as they spoke for a bit before the news turned to another subject.<\/p>\n

We heard nothing, putting out a press release on it.\u00a0 Dad says thanks.<\/em><\/p>\n

She felt a bit happy at what happened.\u00a0 Sure, her past relationship had someone who cheated on her often, but for some reason it felt nothing like what Elsa would do.\u00a0 Of course, it was something the queen warned her about as well, always swirling rumors of the king, or Elsa, or Anna involved with someone else but they were very loyal.<\/p>\n

Oh yeah, expect a costume designer to show up to help you design your costume.<\/em><\/p>\n

Okay, you have yours?<\/em><\/p>\n

With that there was a pause before Elsa replied back.<\/p>\n

Got my idea from Anna.<\/em><\/p>\n

Really, who are you going to be?<\/em><\/p>\n

Lynn wanted to know.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a surprise.<\/em><\/p>\n

Spoil sport.<\/em><\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth the wait.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hope so.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lynn looked to see what else her friends were doing before deciding to turn in early wondering how many others had seen the \u2018news\u2019 when she went into work tomorrow.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Lynn made her way into work seeing several co-workers standing around.\u00a0 Walking over she could hear what they were talking about this morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, which of you is the lucky one?\u201d one asked who Lynn didn\u2019t the name of.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all speculation and rumor, don\u2019t believe any of it,\u201d an older worker said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t lie, they have a lot of people looking into this, and if she\u2019s having an affair with an older, married man, she\u2019s terrible,\u201d the younger man said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know who it isn\u2019t,\u201d Lynn said looking at him.\u00a0 \u201cShe has too much class for someone like you, or to be going after some married man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, look at you, know so much,\u201d he said with a laugh.\u00a0 \u201cGuess we\u2019ll all bow down to you Miss I-graduated and know so much more than anyone else.<\/p>\n

Lynn started to say something else when Mr. Peters walked in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take it we\u2019re not hung up on rumors?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNope,\u201d the younger one said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYep, they were,\u201d the older man said pointing to the younger one.\u00a0 \u201cHas dreams of disillusions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t deal with rumors, so get back to work, you\u2019re not paid to be gossip nannies,\u201d Lance said to them.<\/p>\n

Lynn watched as everyone walked away and she headed to her office as well.\u00a0 Part of her couldn\u2019t wait until they made the announcement.\u00a0 Heading into her office sand powering on her computer she waited as the program loaded and connected.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything okay?\u201d Lance said standing at her office door.<\/p>\n

\u201cYep,\u201d Lynn replied, watching as he entered and closed the door before sitting down across from her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was what I was afraid of,\u201d he said and Lynn had the impression he wasn\u2019t speaking of anything at the museum.\u00a0 \u201cThe princess thought she was sneaky, but I noticed her several times and put two and two together before talking to the king who confirmed my suspicions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re you afraid I wasn\u2019t doing my job?\u201d Lynn asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, no, you\u2019re work has been great, better than I expected and a fast learner,\u201d he said to her.\u00a0 \u201cI was more worried about rumors and, well, what happened earlier in the corridor with the other co-workers if rumors started.\u00a0 They would start looking for her, and who knows what else.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThough, I will admit, hearing that the princess was having an affair with a married man was amusing, especially to my wife,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe wasn\u2019t mad at you?\u201d Lynn asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I already informed her of what was going on, she\u2019s the one who suggested I tell the king,\u201d Lance replied to her.\u00a0 \u201cSo, when do you finally come out?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll Hallow\u2019s Eve dance,\u201d Lynn said, suddenly nervous.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see, I suggest you take the next day off, it will give you the weekend to sort things out,\u201d he said to her.\u00a0 \u201cI can remember when Anna announced she was dating Kristoff that was big news, and then her wedding, a circus around here.\u00a0 I really made things hectic around here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, and they\u2019ll know I work here,\u201d Lynn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t worry, while the museum is public, the offices are not, and we\u2019re associated with the palace so there are many ways to get you into work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks,\u201d Lynn relied feeling as if she had another person she could talk to about this.\u00a0 Her friends were supportive, but had no idea what to do and not to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, what are you going as?\u201d he asked, leaning back into his chair.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Jedi,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cStar Wars, interesting,\u201d he replied.\u00a0 \u201cWe had an exhibit for that last year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI know, wanted to go but couldn\u2019t, was in school too much,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPity, it was a lot of fun,\u201d he said to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, and I\u2019m a Star Wars nut,\u201d Lynn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we\u2019ll have to bring it back some day,\u201d he told her.<\/p>\n

Lynn considered that before looking back at Lance who appeared to be thinking.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings will be getting interesting around here, that much is for sure,\u201d he finally said standing up.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ll let you get back to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes sir,\u201d Lynn replied,<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ll have to make sure you do your best for a while, with everything that\u2019s going to happen, at least until the media sensation dies down a bit,\u201d he said to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, think I\u2019ll just be myself,\u201d Lynn replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cBest advice to follow, its easier to maintain,\u201d he replied before leaving the room.<\/p>\n

Lynn wondered what might happen next.<\/p>\n
