The Uneasy Alliance<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Part 30<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Weapon drawn, pointed at him Adama contemplated his next move very carefully knowing that a lot more was at stake than just Zion now. Perhaps that was Ilbis\u2019 plan all along, get him down here and destroy all of humanity.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what is the meaning of this?\u201d he heard ilbis say, and turned around to see Turner along with several others pointing weapons, not at him but the approaching people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have doubts of your course of action,\u201d Turner said firmly.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou doubt me?\u201d Ilbis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course he does, he sees the truth,\u201d Apollo said, stepping forward. \u201cYou can only control those who blindly follow you.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that Apollo looked over at the group who was approaching and stopped.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are being used, he promises a lot, but in the end all he delivers is death,\u201d Apollo stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is treason general,\u201d Iblis said. \u201cI think you should be relieved of all duties starting now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have that authority,\u201d Turner said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe council does, and I speak for the council,\u201d Iblis replied, his face showing rage.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot all of us,\u201d an older woman said, having sat off to the side and speaking up for the first time. \u201cYou need to take a vote before doing that, and you\u2019ve been slowly taking more and more responsibility.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been wary of your accumulating power lately, almost as if you are setting yourself up as a dictator.\u00a0 Why is that?\u00a0 Is what this man says true?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve known me longer than that, I have the best interest of everyone in every decision,\u201d Iblis said, a lie and Adama knew it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd your recent power grabs are disturbing,\u201d the woman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have no control over people who don\u2019t follow you,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

Adama watched as Iblis paused, as if he was hesitant to do anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou foolish children, do you not see what is before you,\u201d Iblis said. \u201cI am your savior.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adama backed up slightly as Iblis rose up, arms outspread.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have powers you cannot fathom,\u201d he said looking at Apollo.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I rejected you, you have no power to interfere with me,\u201d Apollo replied stepping forward even more.<\/p>\n

Everything seemed to freeze for a second all eyes were on the two. Suddenly Apollo opened fire to the shock of everyone there.\u00a0 Adama\u2019s mind raced on how he might be able to get out of there, when instead of harming Iblis he changed upon blaster impact.\u00a0 His face changed into a form he never saw before, looking like a demon from legends.<\/p>\n

Several people recoiled upon seeing the form, and one jumped back running from the room.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can save you all, I have the power,\u201d Iblis said looking at everyone.<\/p>\n

They looked around but even those who had supported him now appeared to backing away from him, leaving him isolated in the middle of the room facing Adama and Apollo.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe never knew who you were,\u201d the woman said backing up as well. \u201cYou are a demon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am the most powerful person you have ever known and the one who can deliver you from the fate which awaits you,\u201d Iblis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, you\u2019re hiding,\u201d Adama said. \u201cYou\u2019re hiding from them, what did you do this time?\u201d<\/p>\n

Iblis raised his arm, pointing it at Adama when a flash of light appeared. Standing between him and Iblis stood a new figure dressed in white, one who Adama recognized.<\/p>\n

\u201cJohn.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have overstepped your limits again,\u201d John said looking at Iblis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will not be limited by the likes of you again,\u201d Iblis said.<\/p>\n

Lights of all colors flashed between the two as Adama fell back looking for cover. This fight was something he did not feel like getting involved in.\u00a0 he looked up seeing John merely standing there, his hands moving around either blocking or attacking Adama had no idea.\u00a0 Iblis used more body movement in his attacks and defenses<\/p>\n

\u201cYou cannot win,\u201d John said calmly.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou Seraphs are insufferable,\u201d Iblis said, pausing in his attacks, then disappeared leaving the room strangely quiet.<\/p>\n

Adama recovered first and moved forward along with Apollo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThought you didn\u2019t get involved?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cCount Iblis is a special instance, he is on what you would call probation, and has violated it once more,\u201d John said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy get involved?\u201d Adama asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe moment he lost his support here it was decided upon, it would have meant more interference if we had not,\u201d John said confusing Adama for a second. He gave it some thought and realized Iblis was going to attack him, perhaps that was the reason or the interference.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThis is as far as I can help, form here on out you are on your own.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that John vanished leaving them to sort out what happened next.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, that was, interesting,\u201d the woman said moving over to sit back down.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do we do next?\u201d another person asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cA council meeting will be called,\u201d the woman said. \u201cGeneral, release Morpheus, we shall meet with him when the council reconvenes in thirty minutes, let everyone know.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that she moved away leaving Adama and Apollo to wonder what might happen next.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Morpheus looked up as Turner walked into the room along with Apollo. Morpheus wondered what happened now and hoped Apollo had not been captured as well trying to rescue him, or something even more elaborate.<\/p>\n

Turner opened the door and stood there.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, come on, you\u2019re free, there\u2019s a council meeting in about twenty minutes, they want you to be there,\u201d Turner said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot sure what I can do, Zack seems to have made up his mind,\u201d Morpheus said seeing a strange look on Turner\u2019s face.<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, he, well, he wasn\u2019t who he said he was, and vanished,\u201d Turner replied causing Morpheus to really become confused. The casual tone which Turner used didn\u2019t explain anything as the cell doors opened.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m afraid you\u2019ve lost me,\u201d Morpheus said looking at Turner then over at Apollo.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour councilman, Zack, is someone we\u2019ve known and encountered before,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow is this possible?\u201d Morpheus asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe appeared before us as well, claimed to be a savior, and performed three miracles,\u201d Apollo replied back to him. \u201cHe came through but we learned he really wasn\u2019t responsible, only used certain things and what would happen to foresee people\u2019s reactions.\u00a0 He is a master of manipulation.\u00a0 He leads entire civilizations to their doom.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI still don\u2019t understand,\u201d Morpheus said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe thrives for destruction,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy doesn\u2019t someone stop him?\u201d Morpheus asked confused as to why someone would do this. \u201cIf he\u2019s this powerful then are there not others?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t get involved,\u201d Apollo replied. \u201cThey have a policy not to interfere with developing civilizations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morpheus made his way out of the jail area to see people all around looking confused. They had a similar look at the time Zion was about to be attacked, a look of the lost.\u00a0 They were lost at a time when war was on their doorstep.\u00a0 A war they did not invite, want or need, but found themselves thrust into once more.<\/p>\n

Making his way towards the council he noticed one of the council members talking with a man in blue, white hair, and a posture of command in his motions and realized it was Commander Adama one of the leaders of the Colonials.<\/p>\n

Making his way over he waited until they looked over at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cMorpheus, it appears you were correct, but things are moving way too fast now, especially after what happened,\u201d the woman said, and Morpheus had to recall her name, Diana.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish I had been wrong,\u201d Morpheus said trying for a diplomatic position.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I\u2019ve been speaking with Commander Adama about the situation going on outside of Zion, and I want to hear it from you,\u201d Diana said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have all the information, but the machines on the surface came under attack by a new robot race. At first we were unaware of who, or what they wanted.\u00a0 They attacked the humans in the Matrix,\u201d Morpheus said, as they walked over to sit down.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s logical they would attack there, the Cylons only wish to destroy all of humanity,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy doing that they threatened the machines,\u201d Morpheus said, so they defended themselves,\u201d Morpheus said. \u201cThat\u2019s where we came in, they asked us for help, to rise above the clouds and see what was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s when you met us?\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, we encountered you, and learned more about who this enemy was,\u201d Morpheus said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we need Zion\u2019s help,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s where you lose me,\u201d Diana said. \u201cIf, you are an advanced civilization as you claim, why do you need us.\u00a0 We are probably considered a backwater group.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure what you mean, backwater,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are low tech,\u201d Diana clarified.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need the information you have of this planet, how you survive, growing food,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFood, its not that great,\u201d Diana said, Morpheus understood.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point, its not what it tastes like, its if it does the job until we can get something better,\u201d Adama said. \u201cWe have some supplied, but there is a lot to get done.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to work together,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that includes the machines on the surface,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat will take some getting used to,\u201d Diana said. \u201cWe\u2019ve lived our entire lives under their threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand, the Cylons destroyed my entire civilization, killed millions including my wife and son,\u201d Adama said, bitterness in his voice.<\/p>\n

Morpheus knew there was a story there, one of tragic loss but remained quiet for the moment, waiting to see what might happen next. He knew what was going on, an alliance was being formed and trust had to be formed to work.\u00a0 He could not interfere this time, the leaders had to work it out for themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery well, perhaps it\u2019s time we speak with the leader of the machines,\u201d Diana said, turning to Morpheus. \u201cDo they even have a leader?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe speak though a machine called DE, who acts as a leader for them all,\u201d Morpheus replied.<\/p>\n

He watched as thought about it for several seconds before saying anything else.<\/p>\n

\u201cI shall meet with this DE and talk with him as well,\u201d Diana said. \u201cAnd you should be there as well commander, and you too Tuner and Morpheus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have my wisdom councilor,\u201d Morpheus said getting the feeling they were finally on the right track to defend themselves and fight this upcoming war.<\/p>\n

Now all they had to do was talk with the council and then head to the surface to meet with DE.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Adama was quiet on the way back to the surface despite having more people this time. Morpheus and Daina, a councilwoman, joined them this time.\u00a0 Confronting iblis went smoother than he expected, which made him wonder what he had planned, if anything.\u00a0 Then of course there was the problem with what might be going on when they arrived at the surface, in orbit around the planet and back at the fleet.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re quiet commander?\u201d Diana said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, thinking about things, like what is going on back at the fleet, there were reports of a Cylon battlestar nearby,\u201d Adama replied back, hoping Tigh and Omega could handle things.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess its ironic that the largest group of humans are hooked up to the Matrix,\u201d Diana said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they are in danger from another group of robots,\u201d Morpheus said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho are these Cylons?\u201d Diana asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were created by the race of Cylons, an intelligent race. They depended too much on the robots, and the robots rebelled, gaining a hatred of all organic life,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

He watched as Diana appeared thoughtful about this.<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps, our machines have learned a different lesson, after all, we were dependent on them and now they are dependent on us,\u201d Morpheus said.<\/p>\n

Adama watched the interaction wondering if they could trust the machines as well. So far they had little choice, and the machines wanted their help.\u00a0 But what happened after that?\u00a0 Would they attack again, would distrust occur?<\/p>\n

Could machines and humans live in peace?<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re almost there,\u201d Apollo said from the driver\u2019s spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow do things look?\u201d Adama asked, knowing that how people acted could determine a lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey look normal,\u201d Apollo replied.<\/p>\n

Adama relaxed a bit, but wouldn\u2019t fully relax until he heard for himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a shuttle, looks like its from the Enterprise,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

Adama nodded, knowing it could mean anything, including transporting personal to the ship, or simple communications. That was a thought as well, they needed a way to communicate with the surface faster.\u00a0 He would ask Doctor Wilker and DE, perhaps they knew of something.<\/p>\n
