Part 3<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Apollo shielded his eyes having a feeling he knew what he would see when he opened them up again. Blinking again he wasn\u2019t surprised to see John standing there in the room but wondered why he was here his time.\u00a0 Did he know something about all of this as well and never bothered to tell them?<\/p>\n

\u201cWho are you and how did you get on my ship?\u201d Adama asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cJohn,\u201d Apollo said speaking up before his father did something everyone might regret.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommander, I apologize for my sudden appearance,\u201d John said looking at everyone gathered there. \u201cBut you have questions that need answering, and I can provide some answers, at least why there are no stargates, aside from this one, in our galaxy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not human,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery perceptive, but what we would expected considering you\u2019ve met such other races, like the ones you call the ancients and Asgard,\u201d John said shocking everyone. \u201cOh yes, we are aware of them, but we don\u2019t like to speak to others very often and we have a policy of not getting involved.\u00a0 But that doesn\u2019t mean we\u2019ll allow outside races to interfere with our galaxy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adama had a feeling he would be told something else when Sam spoke up.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou prevented the Ancients from seeding more worlds with the stargate,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stargate was part of the peace treaty between us,\u201d John said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoa, you were at war with the Ancients,\u201d Mitchell said causing John to look uncomfortable for a few seconds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were extremely arrogant, thinking they knew everything,\u201d John said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I can understand that one,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cThey are arrogant from what I\u2019ve heard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were also brilliant,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was that brilliance which led to the conflict, they wanted one thing, we wanted another. It was decided to have one stargate, here to allow diplomats to speak to each other.\u00a0 However it hasn\u2019t been used in several millennia.\u00a0 Since then we\u2019ve both outgrown such petty differences, and there are other ways to communicate,\u201d John said.\u00a0 \u201cThey took the thirteenth tribe with them to their galaxy as part of the agreement. What happens beyond this point, we will not get involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that John disappeared before anyone else could ask any questions.<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds just like a being who is ascended,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure they are ascended, but they do have some traits like an ascended,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve helped us out a few times,\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

Everyone was quiet for several minutes before Adama finally spoke up.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour planet is Earth,\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, it\u2019s what we call it,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis information is fascinating,\u201d Sam said. \u201cWe\u2019ve always thought the Gao\u2019uld and Ancients spread humanity from Earth, but they brought us there, it would rewrite everything we know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDaniel would love all of this,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs there any way to talk to your superiors?\u201d Adama asked and Apollo wondered where his father was going.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, they are going to contact us shortly,\u201d Mitchell replied. \u201cStandard procedure and to see if we are able to dial back.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDial back?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, when dialing another galaxy the stargate requires more energy and normal gates require a boost they don\u2019t normally have,\u201d Sam replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see,\u201d Adama said. \u201cSo, going there and talking to them is probably not very realistic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a possibility,\u201d Samantha said. \u201cI didn\u2019t look to see how much power the ZPM has.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hoping enough to power a gate back home,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow far away is your galaxy?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is the Pegasus galaxy between ours,\u201d Sam replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we didn\u2019t have the best of luck there,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnemies?\u201d Adama asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore like a difference in religion,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

Apollo wondered what options they might have with this latest knowledge. They had found the thirteenth tribe only to discover they were probably several million light years away.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Jollly went about his patrol but wanted to know more about what was going on with the planet. The last he heard they had discovered a building on the surface who they didn\u2019t know who built it.\u00a0 Instead of having Boomer as his wingmate he had Greenbean today as Boomer was needed on the planet.<\/p>\n

\u201cJolly,\u201d he heard Greenbean say.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah,\u201d Jolly replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cUm, I\u2019ve got something on my scanner here,\u201d Greenbean said.<\/p>\n

Jolly looked down at his own scanner and waited a few seconds until he also saw something. Quickly he activated the computer waiting for an identification hoping that it wouldn\u2019t come back with anything.\u00a0 His hope was dashed by what appeared on the screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cBetter inform the Galactica, they\u2019ll want to know about this,\u201d Jolly said, switching over to contact the Galactica and inform them of what they had encountered.<\/p>\n

*****<\/p>\n

Mitchell took a sip of water which had been offered. So far there had been a lot of information exchanged and things which were unexpected, like the appearance of this John person.\u00a0 He mentioned that his race and the ancients had disagreed which was why this galaxy had no stargates aside from this one.<\/p>\n

Sam had found out some things by talking to Wilker but there was still a lot to learn, but if he had heard correctly they were not going to be staying at the planet due to an enemy called the Cylons. This new enemy appeared to only want one thing, the destruction of all humanity.\u00a0 He briefly wondered what they would think if they realized how far spread humanity was.<\/p>\n

He glanced at the time and realized he needed to check in with Teal\u2019c and Daniel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs there a way we can contact out team on the planet\u2019s surface?\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, it\u2019s unwise for such communications,\u201d Apollo said, \u201cwe don\u2019t know where the Cylons are.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s approaching time for us to check in,\u201d Mitchell said even as another person walked into the room and went straight towards Adama.<\/p>\n

\u201cSorry, but Jolly\u2019s patrol has encountered a Cylon basestar,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n

Mitchell noticed the tension in the room increased.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve found us!\u201d Apollo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know that yet, but this isn\u2019t good news,\u201d Adama said. \u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn front of us,\u201d the man replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take it this isn\u2019t good news,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the worst news we could receive,\u201d Adama said but before anyone else could elaborate another man walked in.<\/p>\n

\u201cOmega, I left you in command of the bridge,\u201d the other man said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSorry, but two other patrols have encountered Cylon basestars, we\u2019re almost surrounded,\u201d Omega said.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo ahead with your message,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs that wise?\u201d Apollo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey know where we are, and perhaps they might be able to help us somehow,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

That left Mitchell at a loss. They had no way to bring anything over here to help out.\u00a0 Perhaps some bombs or something, supplies, guns on the planet\u2019s surface.\u00a0 They stood and headed to the bridge, which was full of activity as people went about their duties and Adama went over to a bank of screens and looked something over.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight here, you can contact your team with this,\u201d Omega said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks,\u201d Mitchell said, pressing the mic. \u201cDaniel, come in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMitchell, that you?\u201d Daniel asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, look, something\u2019s come up with them, their enemy has found them, we\u2019re going to try and get back to the planet fast, but is there anything which Landry could do to help them out?\u201d Mitchell asked back.<\/p>\n

\u201cUm, militarily, nothing comes to mind,\u201d Daniel stated. \u201cOur closest ships wouldn\u2019t get here for weeks,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan we dial back to Earth?\u201d Sam asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, that wouldn\u2019t be a problem,\u201d Daniel said hesitantly. \u201cHow bad is for them?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you go by attitudes, not good at all,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cThey have a couple hundred ships and if what I heard is correct, one warship and they are surrounded.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUm, well I have an idea,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cHold on, the gate\u2019s activating.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBe careful,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cWe don\u2019t know if these Cylons know about the gates.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCylons?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir enemy,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight,\u201d Daniel said and went quiet for a few seconds. \u201cIts Landry wanting an update.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTell him we\u2019ll be back the moment we get back to the planet,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow many people?\u201d Daniel asked.<\/p>\n

Mitchell had no idea and looked over at the young woman at the control.<\/p>\n

\u201cAround forty thousand,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cProbably around forty thousands, why?\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cDaniel, if you\u2019re thinking what I think you are, it won\u2019t work,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy not, we have power,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe SGC can\u2019t handle so many people,\u201d Sam said as Mitchell caught on finally.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot there but another planet,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure they could organize such an operation,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat operation?\u201d Omega asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy friend is thinking of using the stargate to evacuate your people to our galaxy,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommander,\u201d Omega said much to Mitchell\u2019s dismay.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes,\u201d Adama said making his way over.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cCan your friends help?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy friend thinks we can use the stargate to evacuate your people to our galaxy,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cBut that\u2019s too much of an organizational problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt might be our only chance,\u201d Adama said. \u201cTigh, contact all captains, inform them of some new orders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t be serious,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re surrounded, the Cylons are going to probably be in position very soon to make their attack. They are pushing towards this planet, I\u2019ll do what they want, and I can send ships ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShuttling so many down to the planet\u2019s surface, that\u2019s going to be almost impossible,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, the ships can land on the surface,\u201d Adama said. \u201cDo we have a place we can go?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDaniel, they think they can do it, but the SGC can\u2019t handle that many,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know, but we have another planet in mind, it currently houses a Jaffa base, but Landry thinks it would work for short term,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Jaffa would be most hospitable to such people,\u201d Teal\u2019c said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow many can we get through the gate at a time?\u201d Mitchell asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, at 30 minutes to hold the gate open, everyone goes though in an orderly fashion, we might get over a thousand per trip, perhaps more if everything goes smoothly,\u201d Sam said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll do what we can then, tell Landry to get it ready,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlready done, he\u2019ll call back when he\u2019s contacted them,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTigh, inform all ships, make for the planet, and let\u2019s get operations on to fill up as many ships as possible to land,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to be burning a lot of fuel,\u201d Tigh replied back to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s okay, we won\u2019t be coming back,\u201d Adama said. \u201cI\u2019ll inform the council of the decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mitchell had the impression that wouldn\u2019t go well as he followed Adama off the bridge hoping to provide some support leaving Sam on the bridge to coordinate with Daniel on the evacuation process.<\/p>\n

Mitchell found himself in a room with several older men all of whom were looking at Adama then at Mitchell.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho is this?\u2019 one asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cLt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell, Earth,\u201d he said watching their reaction not surprised when they all were shocked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have much time,\u201d Adama said. \u201cThe Cylons have found us and are laying a trap.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCan Earth help?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEarth is actually several million light years away,\u201d Michell said. \u201cIn another galaxy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThen how are you here?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s part of what is going on,\u201d Adama said. \u201cHe came here though a device called a stargate, it allows them to travel vast distances almost instantly.\u00a0 We are going to use that to leave this galaxy behind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d several said along with other cries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have no other choice, the Galactica cannot fight this battle and win,\u201d Adama said. \u201cWe have been offered sanctuary in their galaxy where humans are numerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cForty thousand people?\u201d another one asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt can\u2019t be done!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will have to be, or we will die here,\u201d Adama said. \u201cThey have at least four basestars, at best the Galactica could take on two, perhaps three but not four.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mitchell noticed the words had an effect.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just can\u2019t up and abandon everything we\u2019ve worked for,\u201d one said finally after a few seconds.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncilman, I would love to hear an alternative, but I don\u2019t have one and we are almost out of time and we have no reinforcements coming,\u201d Adama said.<\/p>\n

The council went quiet.<\/p>\n
