Buck Rogers<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Part 23<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Buck looked up seeing another alien wrestled into a cell and locked. It screamed a bit in whatever language it used, but ended up as gibberish to his ears.\u00a0 He watched, looking it over as it was dressed in black and seemed to be some sort of flight suit, had two large eyes and seemed to have no nose or ears but a mouth similar to a humans.\u00a0 Its skin was a bit more black color as it\u00a0raged for a few more minutes before finally quieting down.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout time, you have a grating voice,\u201d Buck said to it not moving from the lounging on the bed. It looked over at Buck apparently seeing him for the first time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHuman,\u201d it said in the same grating voice.<\/p>\n

They looked at each other for several seconds before the alien finally turned and looked around the room obviously looking for some way to escape. Buck too this time to study how it moved.\u00a0 It was very controlled, but didn\u2019t seem that powerful, more fluid than a few other races.<\/p>\n

As he watched the alien tested the bars several times, and looked under the bed for anything it might be able to use.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not too smart are you,\u201d Buck said gaining its attention. \u201cIf you get out of here, then what?\u00a0 Not exactly in a spot full of friendlies are you?\u201d<\/p>\n

The alien made a face in his direction which Buck could have taken any which way, but looked more like a demented smile to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, your loss,\u201d Buck said. \u201cI\u2019m only in here because you and your drones decided to foolishly attack this planet.\u00a0 You must have some sort of enhanced over-inflated ego for what you did.\u201d<\/p>\n

That comment stopped the alien and Buck knew he, or she, understood English which meant they had to have had some contact with humans somewhere. That brought up another question, who had they contacted, someone on Earth or in the Draconian Empire, or somewhere else which he had not yet discovered.\u00a0 It was a lot to think about and wished he had more information.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, you attack every race you come across, or only special ones?\u201d Buck asked not expecting a reply but watching the alien\u2019s reaction. \u201cYou have a name, or do I make one up for you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Still the alien did not reply except for its initial word of \u2018human\u2019 earlier but he kept an eye on the reactions coming from the alien.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot very talkative are you,\u201d Buck said. \u201cA bit of a bore if you ask me.\u00a0 You seem obsessed with trying to discover a way out but once out you seem to have no idea what to do next.\u00a0 I mean face it, you get out, and as I said earlier, you have nowhere to go, or is someone on board a spy for your race?\u201d<\/p>\n

He watched the alien closely at that but it seemed to have either ignored the statement or it meant nothing to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cReminds me of a movie I saw once when I was younger,\u201d Buck said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWill you shut up human,\u201d it finally said, its voice still gruff and grating as it looked over at Buck. \u201cYour voice is like an infection among the stars and need to be erased.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buck\u2019s eyebrows rose at that comment, and he wondered if perhaps he had stumbled upon some reason why they were attacking Earth.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, well yours isn\u2019t that pleasant either,\u201d Buck replied back to it, this time he got a reaction.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur voice is the greatest known,\u201d it replied back to Buck.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou sure? I’m not, by the way, where\u2019d you learn English?\u201d Buck asked watching as it suddenly stopped and glared at him before sitting down on the floor and apparently seemed to be meditating.<\/p>\n

Buck went back to relaxing but kept an eye on the alien across from him. He had learned some interesting things and knew with this latest action the alien would be concentrating on not doing anything else while he was here.<\/p>\n

Buck looked up as his captors walked in.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollow me Captain Rogers,\u201d he was told. Buck walked out of the cell as it was opened and took one last glance at the alien in the other cell.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, see you around,\u201d Buck said to him watching as the alien only slightly twitched but said nothing back and walked out of the cell area.<\/p>\n

They went down a few corridors and entering a room where he wasn\u2019t surprised to see Twiki, Doctor Theopolis and Wilma, who seemed relieved when he entered the room.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, this is nostalgic,\u201d Buck said to them as he sat down and saw the others looked perplexed. \u201cIt\u2019s close to what happened after the test flight and I found myself in the future,\u201d he told them.<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, yes, I see,\u201d one of the alien said as the door opened and Buck recognized Kreeev entering the room.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that\u2019s everyone\u2019s here, my name is Gziis and I do apologize for detaining Captain Rogers,\u201d the alien said, and Buck figured he was the one in charge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would have thought our recent sharing of information would have counted for something,\u201d Theopolis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cActually, I\u2019m glad,\u201d Buck said shocking everyone in the room.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d Wilma asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, if I hadn\u2019t been captured I wouldn\u2019t have been able to \u2018talk\u2019 to that alien,\u201d Buck said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd without him the alien would and his ship would have never been captured,\u201d Gziis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave you discovered anything about it?\u201d Buck asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were able to get a general direction of the alien ships, but patrols have not discovered anything. If they were there they have since left,\u201d Kreeev said.<\/p>\n

\u201cProbably in response to what we did,\u201d Wilma said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost likely, is there anything else you discovered Captain Rogers?\u201d Theopolis asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, actually there is one thing, the alien in the cell knew English,\u201d Buck said. \u201cCould understand and speak it, knew that I was a human on sight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a bit disturbing as it means they have had contact with humanity,\u201d Theopolis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, and there is one other thing,\u201d Buck said recalling one thing. \u201cIt seemed to really hate m voice.\u00a0 Thought its voice was the most pleasant sound in the universe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cInteresting,\u201d Gziis said as the others looked thoughtful as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs it all the excuse they need to go to war?\u201d Theopolis asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been wars for less, but its rare to happen,\u201d Gziis replied back to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, but the facts in front of us consider they might consider such a thing,\u201d Theopolis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf that\u2019s the case, then why did they attack us as well?\u201d Gziis asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat we do not know, but there are several empires and alliances this group was discovered to have infiltrated and perhaps might be ones to attack, your race was one of them,\u201d Theopolis said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been looking to see if there is a common theme to it all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buck sat there thinking before another thought came to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was really agitated by my voice, is there something similar vocal-wise among all of these races?\u201d Buck asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a possible route, let me analyze it,\u201d Theopolis said silent for a few seconds. \u201cNo, but we do share one common trait, we are all social races, all except for the Rizonians who are also involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are not social, but are lose allies of ours,\u201d Gziis said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been allies in several wars and have strengthening bond.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThen perhaps they knew by attacking you it would bring them in as well,\u201d Theopolis said. \u201cVery fascinating.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we discover anything we\u2019ll tell you,\u201d Gziiis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you,\u201d Theopolis stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour fighters are all ready, we took care of Captain Rogers as well,\u201d Gziis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks,\u201d Buck replied as they stood and were led to the hanger.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou pull another stunt like that and I\u2019ll ground you,\u201d Wilma said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sense you were worried,\u201d Buck said to her watching as she blushed slightly.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, you\u2019re part of my squadron,\u201d Wilma replied. \u201cIt\u2019s natural for a commanding officer to worry about her squad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs it was, the information Captain Rogers retrieved is valuable to understanding who we\u2019re up against, and perhaps it might even provide the solution to the problem,\u201d Theopolis stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, you have a solution in mind?\u201d Buck asked as they reached the hanger.<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps, I will have to talk to the Chancellor over it,\u201d Theopolis replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cFair enough,\u201d Buck said as they reached their fighters. It would good to get back home as he climbed into the fighter and started it up.<\/p>\n
