Part 12<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Jezic made his way to the throne room having been summoned by the Emperor. He seemed to spend more time there than anywhere else lately.\u00a0 He hoped the Emperor would finally explain what his plan was before it drove Jezic crazy.\u00a0 He noticed several additional people in the room, one wearing a cloak and hiding their face but he from the posture of the body a short woman.<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, admiral, you\u2019re in time for the reveal,\u201d the Emperor said making a sweeping motion with his hands towards the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cSire, I\u2019m not sure I understand,\u201d Jezic replied looking at him and then to the others.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou will admiral,\u2019 Henry said as he walked over to the woman pulling her cloak aside allowing Jezic to view the face of the person. He looked on a bit stunned by the face before him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat? Why is she not restrained?\u201d Jezic stated glancing at the guards nearby.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s dangerous letting Meia loose like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not Meia,\u201d the woman in front of him said.<\/p>\n

Jezic paused for a second before answering her. \u201cInteresting choice of words Meia, but you don\u2019t fool me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I said I\u2019m not Meia,\u201d the woman growled back at him, taking a fighting stance towards him. He mirrored it without thought due to years of training and combat experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re not Meia than who do you think you are? I\u2019m not fooled by this act either,\u201d Jezic said to her.<\/p>\n

Meia straightened a bit and smiled, something he never saw before on Meia all the time she was under his command. The smile reminded him of the Emperor and not the elite fighter pilot who had been on board the Kitakim.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see that you\u2019re not stupid after all,\u201d the Meia in front of him said. \u201cIt would have been a shame to kill you.\u00a0 Uncle Henry says good things about you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now Jezic felt really confused by what Meia said. He glanced over at the emperor waiting for an explanation which might make sense for what he heard her say.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the woman said, she\u2019s not Meia,\u201d Henry said rising and walking over to the woman who Jezic wondered about.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf she\u2019s not Meia then who is she?\u201d Jezic asked finally.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe watched as Henry glanced at the woman then back at him before the woman finally replied to answer his question. \u201cI am Ann Cimal, next in line for the Cimalian Empire.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA clone of Meia but with some modifications,\u201d Henry finally said.<\/p>\n

Jezic took a second as the words were processed. \u201cClone?\u2019 he finally asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, she has the same genetic makeup that Meia has with some slight modifications in the proper areas,\u201d Henry said. \u201cHer hair is now a natural blonde, not the blue it was, and some additional reflex modifications and she is the perfect successor to the empire and my daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat about Meia?\u201d Jezic asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cA public execution, a fitting end to a traitor,\u201d Ann replied coolly.<\/p>\n

Jezic found himself nodded in agreement still in shock over what he had been told. The coldness of Ann\u2019s voice towards Meia reminded him of a younger Henry when giving some of his orders.\u00a0 Jezic briefly wondered if Henry knew what type of monster Ann might become, especially if she was anything like he was.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, before that can happen we have one more thing which we must take care of, the Alliance fleet that Meia came from.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe one that left,\u201d Jezic replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnly for a bit, you see there is more going on here than any of you realize,\u201d Ann stated pausing for a second before continuing. \u201cThe admiral of the Alliance fleet and the crew of the ship Meia was a part of will not give up because you chased them away.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we get another chance,\u201d Jezic said, his mind already racing of thoughts for an ambush of the Alliance fleet. Things could not be better.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a better idea,\u201d Henry suddenly said causing JEzic to look over at him. \u201cLet them come, Ann can infiltrate their defenses to gain tactical information.\u00a0 You look like Meia, why not use that to gain information.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jezic turned towards Ann to see she was thinking about the situation. The Emperor made a great point about gaining information.\u00a0 Since the failed invasion their spy cells had been devastated and information was much harder to come by than before.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat might work,\u201d Ann stated. Jezic was not as convinced as Ann acted so differently than Meia did.\u00a0 She would have to convince them she was Meia.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce back at the Alliance we can use out spies to extract you depending on how the mission is going,\u201d Henry said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we should begin the preparations for my pick up by heading to the shuttle,\u201d Ann said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat if they don\u2019t accept you, or notice you are acting strangely?\u201d Jezuc asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cImprovise, what else. Beside the Alliance dies not know the empire has this technology and taking advantage of it will be easy with my abilities,\u201d Ann replied back to him.<\/p>\n

Jezic was not impressed. He had underestimated the Alliance once before as well.\u00a0 They were not the fools they were told they were.\u00a0 He hoped Ann understood that otherwise the mission was already in danger.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat about your hair color?\u201d Jezic asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cEasy, I\u2019ve decided to keep it this way, so I don\u2019t stand out as much,\u201d Ann said.<\/p>\n

Jezic fell silent as they continued to discuss the plans before heading off. Jezic turned to being his part of the plan as well.\u00a0 If the operation was to be successful Ann would have to get on board and the 1st<\/sup> CF could not interfere.\u00a0 As long as Ann got on board the Alliance ship but it allowed some room for him to plan something.<\/p>\n

Randy waited and watched the screens as the Akagi raced through hyperspace towards the Cimalian planet. He hoped the Eagle and Valiant were on their way as well.\u00a0 The plan called for almost precise timing on all ships.\u00a0 If one ship arrived too early it could ruin the entire mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout to enter Cimalian space,\u201d Kim said to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we\u2019re probably about to be on their scanners,\u201d Randy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRed alert,\u201d Aaron said, as the Akagi went to battlestations and people concentrated on their jobs.<\/p>\n

Randy knew most of the crew were already at their battlestations. The alert served to tell them all they were about to drop out of hyperspace.\u00a0 The screens showed all stations ready from damage control to weapons.\u00a0 Both squadrons of fighters were ready to launch but Randy was hesitant to use them.\u00a0 He wanted to get in and out quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cExiting hyperspace in three, two one, now,\u201d Aaron\u2019s voice said throughout the ship.<\/p>\n

Randy listened as the engines powered down and the ship returned to normal operating speed. \u201cScanners, give me a clean picture,\u201d Randy said, waiting a moment for the order to go through.\u00a0 He wanted to know what they were up against.<\/p>\n

\u201cFew ships in orbit, the Valiant has arrived and the Eagle just appeared. A few ships are headed our way,\u201d the reply came back to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cBring weapon systems up,\u201d Randy said before turning to look over at Hans who was listening intently. \u201cAnything Hans?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d Hans said focusing on listening. \u201cHold on, one message coming though, I think its Meia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Randy felt a bit of relief at that statement. He hoped it did not take her too long to get on board a ship.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne enemy warship now in range, firing at us captain,\u201d Aaron said.<\/p>\n

\u201cToni, open fire,\u201d Kim ordered.<\/p>\n

Randy watched as Toni relayed the information to the rest of the weapon systems and the Akagi opened fire a second later on the nearest warship.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeia reports she\u2019s lifting off the planet now,\u201d Hans said.<\/p>\n

Randy looked back down at the scanner hoping to pick up the shuttle. It took only a few seconds and he realized the Eagle would be closest to it.\u00a0 Opening a communications to the Eagle he waited for Yvette\u2019s face to appear on the screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdmiral?\u201d she said all business.<\/p>\n

\u201cYvette, the Eagle is closest to the shuttle, pick her up and leave. The Valiant and Akagi will cover for you,\u201d Randy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnderstood,\u201d Yvette replied.<\/p>\n

Randy closed one communications and opened another with the Valiant. Neil appeared on the screen with the same quickness that Yvette had.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaptain, prepare to leave,\u201d Randy said to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re missing pilots showed up?\u201d Neil asked, a bit surprised that it worked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYep,\u201d Randy replied, letting a bit of a relief smile appear.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood, I\u2019m powering up my engines now. Give us the word and we\u2019re gone,\u201d Neil said to him.<\/p>\n

Randy understood Neil\u2019s urgency to leave the area. No one wanted to be around in orbit around an enemy planet with so few ships for long.\u00a0 He looked over watching the shuttle make its way towards the Eagle.\u00a0 Once it was aboard he would order the Valiant to leave.<\/p>\n

\u201cEngine status?\u201d Randy asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cPowering up now,\u201d Kim replied back to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood, I want to be out of here as quickly as possible,\u201d Randy said to her.<\/p>\n

He looked down at the scanner noticing enemy warships were beginning to appear on the scanner. Most were approaching the Akagi being the largest target.\u00a0 The Akagi also has the best chance of surviving this battle.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaptain Yvette reports the shuttle is docking now,\u201d Hans said to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cTell Captain Neil to go ahead and leave,\u201d Randy ordered.<\/p>\n

The dot representing the destroyer Vialant remained for a few more seconds before it vanished heading off to hyperspace. One ship safe two more to go.<\/p>\n

\u201cKim, once the Eagle leaves get us out of here,\u201d Randy told her. He watched her nod and continued to work on the status of the ship and engines.\u00a0 Reports were already coming in about damage to the enemy ships and the shields of the Akagi.\u00a0 Randy knew with what they were facing they were not in any danger yet.\u00a0 He needed his luck to hold out a bit longer, and no larger Cimalian warships to appear.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdmiral, incoming warships,\u201d Aaron said suddenly.<\/p>\n

Randy looked down at the scanner noticing six ships. Two appeared to be battle-cruiser in size.\u00a0 They appeared where the Valiant had been, the furthest away from the Eagle and Akagi.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, time to go,\u201d Randy said to himself watching as the Eagle finally left the planet.<\/p>\n

The hum of the engines increased as the power built up was released to break through the light speed barrier. Kim gave the order and the Akagi accelerated to hyperspace heading to the rendezvous point where the Eagle and Valiant would be waiting for them.\u00a0 He hoped they had some good news to help defend against the Cimalians later on.<\/p>\n

Jezic turned away from the scanners. He knew the outcome of this battle already, they were going to allow the Alliance ships to flee.\u00a0 He only hoped no ships suffered any major damage.\u00a0 The mission went as planned and Ann took the shuttle up to the Alliance ships with no problem.\u00a0 Of course it went smoothly because the 1st<\/sup> CF had been ordered to avoid the shuttle.<\/p>\n

Jezic ordered the remaining 1st<\/sup> CF ships after the Alliance ships arrived and the shuttle was on the way.\u00a0 This gave the illusion of \u2018reinforcement\u2019 were coming and lend the mission some credibility.\u00a0 It took only a few minutes before the Emperor called.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take it the mission went according to plan?\u201d Henry asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes sire,\u201d Jezic replied. \u201cHer shuttle landed on board one of the Alliance ships, the rest is now up to her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet our spies and agents remaining in the Alliance know about this,\u201d Henry ordered.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy your command,\u201d Jezic said, pausing for a second to consider something. \u201cWhat if she fails?\u00a0 Isn\u2019t she the next in line for the empire?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo not worry about that, it is why I am the Emperor and you are not,\u201d Henry said confusing Jezic a bit with that.<\/p>\n

The communications ended before Jezic could formulate another question. The emperor had something else up that much he felt sure about.\u00a0 He did not see the clone coming back alive.\u00a0 He wished he had a hundred more ships and soldiers which he could use to destroy the Alliance.\u00a0 Perhaps the emperor had a plan not clone soldiers.\u00a0 He would wait an see.<\/p>\n
